also, I'm not getting to NYC till late tomorrow or possibly tuesday. Beer will have to wait till next time most likely.
i'm having trouble rounding up a car trailer to go pick up the xj i am buying on tues...would it be safe on a car dolly if i pull the rear drive shaft? i would be pulling it with a chevy 1500
If it as a 231 t-case, you will be fine putting the case in N and flat towing/dolly it w/o ds removal.
that's what I was not sure about. I had heard that some 231s from the RENIX era lock the front/rear outputs together in neutral... and an 87 XJ would probably have one like that.

only the later 231 cases.
mine locks the front and rear together in neutral.
87 'but it's almost as old as me' manche
Disconnect both the front and rear D.S.s from the axles, wrap duct tape around the u joints to hold the caps on and wire them up underneath some where.
I drug mine all over the country like that.
Just don't leave the u joint clips laying on a picking table 1200 miles away.....
hey...my name changed colors...how did that happen![]()
