I just cancelled my order for a 2012 Wide Glide through the military exchange. The local dealership has a 2008 Road King for a better price with only 6000 miles. It's what I really wanted anyways.

It doesn't help that the sales lady I've been working with is incompetent.

Very nice!
I will throw mine in the Hilton and head out there for a week next summer....

Always welcome. If you want to stay on the beach, let me know and I'll get you a camping spot on the base beach. Kind of a pain if you're going to be going on and off a lot though.

I can get reservations at Fort Fisher in wilmington for cheap too. It's an air force recreation area.

It is when it should be running correctly.

I just got up, gonna call the clown and see if the compression readings make anything any different than it was...but I'm thinking dealer. My buddy thinks we should take the valve cover off on the pass side and count windows on the cam pickup...I'm not doing anything unless I take it somewhere til after Tgiving cause the family Tgiving is in my garage...

I thought a the wrong count tone wheel would cause a check engine light too...

Called the guy. Who told me his wife has a blood disorder and is in the hospital til saturday...sob story.

He did answer tho. Said that the compression numbers and wet cylinders indicate that the cam pick up is wrong.

Guess we'll pull the valve cover after Thankgiving dinner and see. He said that you can change the gear without having to pull the front end...if you are careful.

Three hours away makes it hard to make him do anything.

Well, its a five hour round trip. Five hours I don't have extra time for. Also, if he's not there and his wife is "sick" then he's not going to touch it. I don't know what to believe and concerned that it would take him weeks to fix it.

I still have to take the core back to him...unless I can find someone around here that will buy it for around $400...the core we were charged...

or one of you wants to buy it...

Call him back and tell him that anything that requires disassembly of any components that were installed by his shop is his responsibility.

Tell him that he's more than welcome to recommend a shop or a dealer that he'll pay to fix the problem in your area or he can drive to your garage to fix it.

I wouldn't go near anything with tools unless it was covered by him. When you break something because you're trying to replace the part he put in wrong, is he going to pay for that too?

I understand trying to get it out of your garage, but he needs to be accountable for not giving you the product you paid for and then correcting it on his dime.

My dad had the transmission in his minivan rebuilt by a shop that screwed it up. He has since had it rebuilt twice trying to fix the problem they created in the first place, at no cost to him. That's how it's supposed to work.

True that!
I wouldn't touch it if I were you.
I would make the time to take it back or ask him what he wants you to do with it, where he wants you to take it.
I know it is a hassle, but it could cost you even more in the long run, in court when he tells Judge Judy that you screwed it up taking things apart on it.

Jaime, my girlfriend, got my truck Line-X'd as well as a gooseneck hitch installed, brake controller, and a 7 pin harness in the bed. All done on Friday, I brought it in to work and one of the other tech's parked his 2011 Ram on my trailer. The 1500 only squatted 3"s or so.

this is what small claims court is for. With your documentation of how much nonsense you've gone through to get a simple rebuilt engine from him, how much ridiculous waiting and how many excuses he's given, only to have it be wrong, I would expect to win pretty easily. You can also represent yourself in small claims court (iirc) and simply saying "you are paying for the shop of your choice to fix this, or I will see you in court. your choice. this is ridiculous and has gone on far too long" may get him to do something.

Tell him that he can provide all parts if its an easy fix, you fix it and he refunds the core charge but you keep the old motor. Saves you 5 hrs and you can sell it for a core on cl.

Did you take a look at the bumpstops?

That's what they're for.

3 inches of squat in the rear suspension would make for an interesting steering response.

I bet you can get rid of it with longer bumpstops

You want to ride on bumpstops full-time while towing?

Mostly curious how close they are to the axle with that load and trailer...I'd recommend airbags.

For a truck with coils in the rear i would definitely do airbags, even if its just his Jeep he's pulling.

This might be the only result I could get. I doubt I'll see anything else from him. I don't even know where court to sue him in? He's in a different county from me.

He's nice, talks the talk, but slow to do anything. If I took him the Jeep it might be 2013 before its done.

I'm thinking about getting a quote from the dealer to change that cam pickup. Then telling him he owes me that, or maybe that will be similar to the $400 core.

Hell as slow as he is, I doubt I'll get the core back even if I take him the core.

Not a good experience. He's still talking to me so I'm not going to publicly start smashing him...but once this runs and its over...hang on, I've got some ideas...

Wrong trailer for the right application? Ideally the truck should be moved back about a foot or 2 to center the the load on the axles. Not sure what the ideal tongue weight is on a gooseneck, but I'm pretty sure a 1500 should handle it without squatting.
