Dad bought his brand new, and had a 16' stake rack with a grain body, and the stock racks over it as well.
<chuckle> A good friend of mine from college (he did go to Winterfest with me 10 years ago once,) had an almost identical truck set up as a ladder truck for an electrical contractor. He was trying to figure out why it wasn't starting. The engine bay on this truck is mammoth, so he had climbed in and sat down on the fenderwell. He pulled off a spark plug boot, and told the other guy to hit the ignition. He then found out that his jeans were worn a lot thinner than he thought, he grounded out right through his crotch. Don't know if he actually ricochetted off the hood.

when we did the motor swap last year I was able to sit on the fender and tune the carb and had tons of room to work. Swapping that motor was a breeze with all that room. I was even able to get all the running lights to work again on it, so it is actually a very good and solid old truck. We had to have the seat recovered a few times b/c mice like to chew it up and make nests...and pliers always seem to catch when you get in and out.

Hes driving 7 hours to indy from somewhere in Iowa...I'm driving 2 hours to Indy...much better than Memphis...
And If I can find the guy that has the core on dad's motor I can hopefully drop it off too...if I can find him on a Sunday...that would save me a trip too.
It would almost be worth the trip to drive out your way...but frankly I don't have that much time to spend on the road...

got some down time now that i'm out in nyc again...got a lot of work to on the green eyed lady before the snow flies. been spending too much time in the duck boat on days off...wait is there such a thing:laugh3:
once the water freezes it will be time to hit it hard in the fields and see what the new lift can do in the chisel plowed fields. got hung up once in the snow a few years ago and was a little tentative before...something tells me i will be getting stuck a few times. i'm to fat and lazy anymore to carry everything out into the field

Going to an auction in the morning that has city vehicles...including two xjs. A 95 and a 96. One was the fire departments and one was the water departments. Both have less than 100k...its a public auction...we'll see what happens...
