which is different then any other time? The wrath of Lar is something I wish I never have to come across.......

Brad, Fat Jesus and Flex just pulled out of the drive. It was a good time fueled by cheese, bacon, booze and a lot of farm travels. That camper was a bitch to load into a dually since the jacks would not clear the duals, but we managed to get it in there w/o too much damage. :D

Great time at Cheeseman Family Farms. Excellent entertainment from Tyler, extreme patience and tolerance from Camille, fantastic food from both, and all-around good hosting from Case who was eager to ask questions and offer his help :)

I'll be back for a fun weekend when I don't have to drive the dually and get 12mpg... or probably worse with the camper now:

I was very impressed with the camper and I am looking forward to using it. To my surprise I could barely feel it on the way back, the wind wasn't catching it at all.

12 empty sucks... hoping that with the camper and trailer I can do better than 10. I don't have anything to delete to make it better, wondering what I can do to make it better. I'm sure the 4.10s in the rear end aren't helping, I turn about 2500RPM @ 70.

Pondering water/meth injection or an intercooler...

a burner box on a 7.3 will make a world of difference.

i'm going to go up a tire size or two with mine to help bring the overall ratio down. i'm turning about 2300 at 70 with 4.10s. i'm over 8 and been almost 10 with the two place at the camper but that's less than 70. i was right around 10 with the single place at 70 to 75 with the camper.

i would like a solid 10 with the two place at 70...

thats like 20mpg splitting fuel.

Got my new to me 99 going yesterday. Still need to finish a few odds and ends, but because it's going to be a DD for a year or so I elected to do a headlight harness upgrade before I put it all together. Should have it road ready by next weekend if my harness supplies come in this week. Looking to be back in the game by next years winterfest.

Snow Performance makes an excellent water/meth kit.

I'm considering one for the 6.0. You can feed it windshield washer fluid.

My friend has been scoping them out for his TDI, allegedly they make the most complete / user-friendly kits out there. I'm particularly interested in their +2-3mpg claims. There is another company, DevilsOwn, that makes cheaper kits that sound like they require a little more work on the end-user's part to install.

I ran between 65 and 70. To be fair, my odo doesn't work so I had to trust the GPS and sort of guess how many miles I put on it. I don't really need the pulling power of the 4.10s. If 2wd just blows in the mud and snow, I'd like to get a TruTrac put in anyway and I'd consider dropping to 3.73s at the same time. Of course I'll have to pay someone to do it, I'm not going to have my first gear install be on my tow rig...

I have a guy up here that does it for 150 an axle, you buy the parts, and it will fit in my garage...barely. If you don't have something closer or cheaper, not sure how far you are from Brian.

That's very reasonable for a gear install... regearing will be a little ways down the road, I have a few other things to pay for first.

Pardon my ignorance, is burner box slang for a tuner?

yes, slang

Mine is an H&S mini max. It has gauges built in.

The water/meth kits let you turn the fuel up without burning the pistons up. I'd imagine you'd see power gains even without a turbo. It may be even more beneficial, considering the only way to make power on a NA diesel is to turn the fuel up, but at the expense of internal components. They claim an EGT drop of 200 degrees, which is pretty significant.

My experience with 7.3 tuners is that they don't provide the types of performance gains that a later model fully computer controlled turbo diesel would see. Had a guy who worked for me with all the bells and whistles installed on his 7.3 (turbo) and the fancy tuner and he barely put 325 hp at the wheels on the dyno. Same day, with just a programmer, my 6.0 put down 384/711 at the wheels.

If you're looking for that magic extra 3 mpg that everyone in the diesel aftermarket claims, the only place you'll find it is under your right foot.
