^^^^ that's awesome! How old is he?

Maybe later he can help daddy clean his desk! ;)
He's 4 months as of 4 days ago. And he already tried to clean my desk. He threw my camera and a few cds on the floor right after the pic was taken.
damn hes getting big dude
Yeah, last checkup he had, he averaged in the 76%. His height is in the 90-some% and his weight is in the lower 3rd IIRC.

the conclusion of night 2 of teaching my self how to weld leaves us with successful booger welds...

A spiral cell dry battery next to a gas tank that is metal on the outside with a plastic inner cell giving two layers...it's pretty safe.

The old aluminum tank was leaking...

mac 'it would pass koh tech' gyvr

Just concerned with your safety. A battery box, with very few exceptions, is not a open spiral wound battery.

!!!1 A battery box does more than prevent spills, they prevent anything from coming in contact with the battery or battery posts. NHRA requires them whether gel or wet dielectric battery is used. I see SCCA, it varies by class. In Solo: Wet=box, Gel=no box, but they mandate a cover over the positive post.

I guess if it was me building a rig, a tank would be as far from a potential ignition source as possible. But that's me. I know 1st hand how powerful a few fumes in a confined space can be

There's nothing confined about macs jeep, its all open air back there.

NHRA might be in a different category then us. :dunno:

I understand what you are saying, but I personally don't see any danger.

I drove the heep out of the garage today and tested the flex, 14" shocks in the rear aren't long enough......

Can you move the mounts down or does it mess with the up travel?

Rew - You're trying to weld two round pieces together logitudinally. That's pretty difficult given the radius of the tube and how the angle changes. You might have better results practicing 90 degree welds on square stock. I've found that prepping the metal and having the right settings on your welder go a lot farther than your technique.

Yah, probably over thinking it. I saw the words "Battery Box" and I went looking for one - no joy - so I commented on it.

Each racing body has their own rules. The rules get more restrictive based on the number of fatalities that resulted from bad design decisions. The NHRA generated one rule to cover everything from full body cars to open frame dragsters. That results in some over-engineering of the slower ET Class cars, but that's OK :D
