I am so sick of direct TV...

recpetion
billing
calling EVERY month cause of a 'misunderstanding' on my bill

mac 'wish it didn't cost so much to cancel it' gyvr

How do you do that? They require a 2yr to sign up...

mac 'never sign up?' gyvr

I avoid fees like that by not having direct TV and just getting off air HD signal. Not as many choices but a $40 box vs a $150 bucks a month.

I wish I could pick the channels that I wanted and not have the rest. I realize that I want channels other than what is offered on free HD TV, however when you sign up you should be paying what they tell you your bill is going to be, otherwise why would I have switched from the other provider....this was supposed to be cheaper...but hasn't...

I just don't watch TV. Problem solved.

The cable company kept wanting me to sign a contract and cell phones do to, I just now signed a contract with Verizon to get the better price on the droids. That is the reason i wont get a satellite dish, I wont sign the stupid contract. I got rid of cable altogether this spring and I don't miss it. I can find everything I want to watch free over the air or on line somewhere, and the OTA picture is so much better than cable. I have thought about getting dish so we would have something in the camper, but you have spoiled that thought. I will stick to free tv.

Don't take this as I would rather have off air HD. My wife and I are too cheap to pay what dish or cable want for their services. Can't see paying as much as they want when you only want 1/5th of what they have to offer.

We pay 95 dollars a month for cable, internet, and a land line

Fore 'no movie channels' Wheeler

I wish for under $100.

I was paying 130 and it was going to go up by 30 a month. Direct TV promised me everything that I was getting for 100 to the end of the year and 124 after that....I haven't had one bill under $150 bucks. Including using the BBB for some install fees that they charged me for and shouldn't have. Every month I call and get another $10 bucks marked off. I'm down to about $120 now finally and got some money back, but the bill is never correct.

I'm now about 31 hours into a marathon disaster recovery exercise. I'd love to go hoist a beer at dinner, I'd almost certainly fall right over.

Cheeseman is awesome........just saying! :D Thanks Tyler for being so generous to clrusty!

No problem, we all gotta pay it forward in life.......

We bit the bullet and paid the early termination fee for Dish Network a few months ago and solely watch what we can get on Netflix. Best decision we ever made, however we only had 6 months left on our contract.

I almost asked them today what it would cost to cancel...

Tyler - My wife is looking for the coils. It's hard to describe coil springs in a box to your wife over the email, especially when you can't remember where in the garage you put them.

Mac - I've found that threatening to leave is the best negotiation policy with directv.

Why do I have to pay for a new receiver when you hand them out like candy to new customers? Fine. I'm calling the cable company.

And then all of the sudden, things magically get free or more affordable. They'll play hardball until you really threaten them with leaving, then they'll make it good.

I dropped down a package to save 10 bucks. The only thing I really miss is the speed channel. Everything else was stuff I didn't watch anyways. But I'm considering going online/OTA. They boned me for $300 for the NFL package this year and enough is enough.

With our amazon, netflix subscription and the tv networks all broadcasting on the net, it might as well be the same as watching it live.

Page 911, weird.

We do this also and for current stuff we like to watch ( Bones, Top Shot etc) you can usually find that stuff on Hulu.com
