Important

Me and several buddies went down to Carmel IN (I know, I know...) on Saturday night. We took an exchange student from France with us to Bubs Burgers. We had him eat the 1 lb burger (22 oz uncooked!) with us. I was impressed he finished it... pretty good for a frenchman!

WTF is wrong with salvage yards?

I've called two of them that have the xj steering column I need and they both won't pull it till tomorrow.

Got up early to fix my junk, maybe back to bed?

no you-pull-it yards in your area?

I hate "we pull it and charge you double a you pull it's price" yards. They always want to know what vehicle I have instead of just telling me what vehicles THEY have. I wanted to find out if a local we-pull-it yard had an MJ I could buy everything off of and the idiot at the counter insisted on asking me what part I needed instead of just checking if they had any shortbed MJ... I had to think of a part no one would have bought that was specific to any shortbed MJ, most of the obvious things either had a million options (rear axle, is it 35 or 44? what gear ratio? lsd? dude I don't care, just search... this is a waste of my time... argh) or would likely already be off the truck and thus not in their database.

So instead of hanging out with us you hung out with a frenchman......I knew you were off but wow! :D

Mac - Go to the local tractor/parts store and get a bolt on 2" receiver hitch for truck bumpers. Flip it upside down and bolt it to your trailer.

That's what I used inside the jeep to hold the winch in when I had a multi mount. I think Nate has it now.

I do, and the bolts. I was going to give them to Mac since I'm likely to never use it. Unless you want them back.

That 460 any good? I don't know why I'm asking...would be too far away to mess with. A buddy is looking for one to put in his late 70s bucket truck that he uses in his sign business. It's got some kind of industrial series Ford motor that he says is stupid expensive to fix due to rare parts.

the f superduty motors?

those are impossible to find parts for. I researched them when I was looking for a box truck.

no u pull it around me. I had a guy tell me this morning that he wanted 150 dollars for steering column because he didn't feel like going out and pulling it. :dunno:

I went next door to where they were parting out a cherokee at the body shop and I'm getting 1 from him for 20 dollars.

I don't understand people.

just placed an order with Ruff Stuff for my disk conversion pieces for the Sterling and ordered a panhard axle side mount and some misc tabs. Starting to get things in line to work on these axles......

Yea no U pulls around MI anywhere really!!! sucks.

Caseys Auto Parts is a good cheap spot, He's about 10 minute drive for me. Keep it in mind when looking around :eyes:

Hola, cake eaters! Have you been missing me? I didn't think so. I feel like that of the elusive Big Hank or Beezil...though Beezil is way out there.

A little update on our neck of the woods...Harrison is 10.5 weeks old now. He is in the 97% for his height and the 76% for weight. He holds his head up pretty well, talks up a storm and smiles a lot! Pretty much the coolest thing ever. He even just got done helping me type this post out.

So, I plan on getting back into the groove of the site. We've been busy parents, but it's more than worth it.

glad to hear your doing good josh.

that chili is da shiznet

Yesterday, I did a day run @ the Midwest Invite event up at Dresser put on by the Go-Fer-4 Wheelers. 10hours on the Hwy, 4.5hrs on the trail... 1.5hrs cleaning off the heavy stuff.

* TJ flairs do not bend, but the body panel they are attached to will/does :(
* ZJ tie rods bend if you are rock crawling and place a stump under just the right place ;)
* BFG ATs work nicely in sandy environments, even sand/mud. The bead protectors are the cats azz!
* Yes Virginia, if your tire is covered in mud, your rear wheel can be a pivot point!
* Rock Crawling with no spotter=lots of hopping in and out of the truck=excersize ;)
* I like the new XJ better than my old YJ. Unfortunately, it sucks gas like a whore sucks...

Still had a great time!

Now I have to figure out what to do for a rear fender flair after I get that dent out of the rear 1/4. Been thinking of either something cheap and flexy, or expensive, yet removable.

Ron - I'm sorta surprised you bent a V8 ZJ tie rod. What size tires? I failed to bend mine and I slammed on it like it owed me money on 33" ATs, including a couple rocks that left marks on the tie rod itself.
