In Bloomington, BPD runs Crown Vics, IUPD run Chargers, Sheriffs run Taurus', a few Priuses -yep no joke, and a few Trail Blazers.
Thankfully we still have Crown Vics.
That's odd that your dept uses different codes, I bet it causes some confusion b/w local, county and state.
We use a combo of 'standard' 10 codes and ISP signals.
I don't think I have ever seen the back seat in use in that thing....other than to throw a bunch of gear on top of it.
<grumble> #5.
5, count them, 5 accidents/incidents since I bought the 7' tall, 7,000 lb. Dodge in 2004, and every one of them was due to the other driver not paying attention, or trying to force their way in. Tonight, while I was signaling for a right turn, someone tried to cut inside and run the corner. Damage to passenger side, front bumper, fender, both doors and box.

Usually these events have schegway parking.
knowing a cop reminds you that there actually real people
I'm that guy everyone on the highway hates, the guy that actually does the speed limit. Simply not worth the risk of a ticket, or the reduced gas mileage.
Yes, my mind works like Mr. Spock, and I do math in my head while driving.
My bung hole is sore, there is no more room in my pockets for any one else's fingers.
First thing that came to mind.... Tommy Boy
Mr. Yohn,
This is a courtesy email to let you know that you have been issued a $30 citation for exiting the 11th and Fee Garage by illegally driving over the curb and refusing to pay the charge that was due for the time that you parked on 4/19/2011. Any additional incident of this nature will result in being reported to the IU Dean of Students and IUPD for disciplinary action.
Also, as it is evident that the vehicle that you have been driving this week is one that is too large to operate the garage gates safely, without damage and/or harm being caused to your vehicle or others, you may not continue to park this vehicle (Jeep Cherokee plate XXXXXX) in the gated garage facilities on the IUB campus. You may however continue to park in any surface parking lot on campus for which your permit allows.
Please reply if you have any questions regarding this issue.
Ms. Turnipseed,
I do not feel as if I should be required to pay the $30 citation for the parking garage. There is a height requirement for parking in the covered parking garage. My vehicle fits this requirement with ease. It is not my vehicle's fault for not registering on the IUB weight sensors to receive a ticket. You can ask the gentleman at the gate house that has to come out and manually open the gate to allow me into the garage. When he does this, I do not receive a ticket to park in the garage. I kindly explained this to the lady at the gatehouse when I exit that I do not have a ticket because the ticket machine does not recognize my vehicle.
An incident occured on Monday in which the attendant opened the gate for me but then allowed it to shut on top of my hood resulting in a scratch across the top of my hood. I told the attendant that I would not file an incident report if he would allow me to leave the garage without paying. He agreed.
On Tuesday, a different attendant had to let me into the garage again because I could not get a ticket to open the gate and there were many cars behind me waiting to get in. The gentleman opened the gate and allowed me to go through. I did not receive a ticket when I passed through. When exiting, I told the lady at the gatehouse the situation and that I did not have a ticket. She informed me that I had to pay a $30 citation in order to exit the garage and that I must immediately give her my driver's license so she could issue me a ticket. I explained to her that it was not my fault for not being issued a ticket and that I did not feel it was right for me to pay a fine due to IU Parking Garage's equipment. When she forced me to pay a citation, I told her that I would not pay and that I would drive around the gate if we could not come to a different conclusion. She demanded my license which resulted in me driving around the gate.
Was it right of me driving around the gate? No. But was it right for the attendant to issue me a citation and demand my driver's license for an issue that is no fault of my own? Absolutely not.
It will not happen again, as I will not be parking in your parking garages any further. But the $30 citation for this inicident is ridiculous due to the situation.
I hope that you understand what happend and understand my position.
Thanks for your time.

Bryan, Based on my experience with the UW's Transporation Services, you simply loose. Just pay the $30 ticket and get it off your record.
Vehicle detection is done by proximity detection. If you have a tall lift, you probably have trouble at some stop lights also.
