Have you heard good things about the Valvoline? The cheapest I found Rotella Syn was Wal-Mart for $19.50/gal. Of course they only had 3 gallons, so I can to run around to find the 4th one. What kind of oil change interval do you run?

If anyone uses the regular Rotella and knows someone with a Sam's membership, you can get 2x2.5gal jugs for (just under?) $50 if I remember correctly.
AFAIC, if Cummins stands behind it for use in heavy OTR engines, it'll do just fine in my tiny little 5.9l ISB. I don't change it often enough, but I also have a nearly ideal case for long change intervals. 92 miles a day, lightly loaded and at highway speeds.

If cummins trusts me to machine injector parts for OTR engines, they will trust anyone! :D

mmmm, diet coke and a weight watchers piece of lasagne for lunch...

I need 4# of pepepr bacon, a 6 pack of Spotted Cow and 2# of cheese for supper.....just to regain consciousness :pig:

next week...P90X...and maybe some black tar heroin.

I thought about tryin P90X
everyone Ive talked to said it was pretty rough.

my wife is a marathon runner and typically in great shape endurance wise...she said when she started it it about killed her..I think she woudl have better success with it if she would have followed the nutrition guide...

There's a good argument for 3rd party injectors....

:laugh3: I take pride in my work, you wont have to worry about my parts! But they do use Bosch on a few engines for specialized equipment.

Change your thinking.....not your oil.

I am seriously thinking of going with a bypass filter and synth oil and just pulling a sample every 10K or so.

Rev

As long as you keep the DPF you want to change your oil every 5k. The regeneration over fuels the motor and puts fuel in the oil.

The best way to get longevity out of a 07.5 and newer diesel oil is to delete the DPF and add a tuner to turn the regen off.

Ford tech told me that 5k with regen looks like muck...5k without regen looks like regular motor oil thats just dirty.

I usually change the CTD's oil every 8,000 - 9,000 miles. It gets whatever the shop puts in the big rigs they work on. With oil and filter it's usually $65 to $75 out the door.

bm 'Just ordered a 5" turbo-back, no muffler exhaust for it :D ' yohn

If I don't sell my truck, I'm going to do a 5" inch exhaust from the turbo back with no DPF, no cat, nothing but exhaust...and a mild tune.

mac 'maybe then I can afford to put fuel in it' gyvr

I'm hoping to bump a few more MPGs out of the exhaust and chip. The plan is to eventually upgrade to the Edge Juice w/ Attitude to I have everything "guage'd" up. But before I do that I'm going to upgrade the valves in the auto tranny so it can handle the extra horses. But gotta pay off the truck first :twak:
