Dana 44 front and dana 60 rear out of a 79 F250.

Now,the pressure is on to get them installed before WinterFest 2011.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for those? I've got a buddy who has a set out of a 79 Bronco, he wants $400 for the set. Reasonable?

Edit: But now that I remember he has a D44 front a 9" rear.

The 44 from a Bronc is coil sprung w/radius arms. The 9" has 31 spline shafts where the D60 has 30 spline. I'm running a 'stock' 9 with bo issues (if you keep gear oil in it). All of the 44 shafts are weak once you get over a 35" tire with a locker and wheel it like I wheel mine. The radius arm set up is EASY and cheap. You get 3" of lift with them.

If I had an MJ I'd use radius arm and a spring over rear for a bunch of really cheap lift and stronger axles. The 9 is bolt in.

I agree with Dan here, Brendan! $400 isn't a bad price in my mind. I paid more than that for a locked 8.8........a lot more. It sure looks purty............. On my garage floor!!!! That 9" axle is pretty much bomb proof too.

You can do it Nick! You did a rebuild in time for the last one!

A shave on that 60 will get you more clearance than a stock 8.8.

Are you suggesting that Nick should shave his rear end? :D

After a few calls to Sean to make sure I had my breaker and wire selection right I am in business.

I assume that's a 220volt welder. Is a 30amp circuit enough for it or did you have to go bigger? Once I get done moving I will be looking to buy one, and I'm planning on going Miller, just not sure which model.

My buddy has a 79 Bronco and has considered parting it out a few times, and I have considered buying the axles. My understanding was that the earlier (76-down?) axles were preferred because of the welded-on wedges. Are you saying that you would just leave the wedges and use the Ford radius arms but build frame side mounts for them? I did some rough measurements and it didn't look like the coil buckets would line up, but maybe I missed something. You're making it sound pretty easy to do...

The coil buckets bolt to the arms. The holes are off set so you can turn them around pushing them inward. The springs still are angled a bit but its more than fine.

77 to 79 9"s are the big bearing units which are preferred.

I lengthened my R arms to mount them to my custom tranny cross member.

I've been running this set up sense 02

So, a local mexican restaurant chain recently got in 12 craft brews. My brother and I just spent the afternoon sampling them. Long story short, this is a drunk post.

welded caps on my bumpers. i have to say, not to shabby for my limited fab skills. i dig it

I think the 187 pulls 21.5 amps at full on, so 30 is plenty.
