I can grow a mean beard...

Unfortunately they don't like it at work.

mac 'shaves every other day except when on vacation' gyvr

Earlier this year I went about 6 weeks without shaving...The beard got hot when the temps jumped back up in the 70s and 80s for a few days, so off it went. Im about a week and a half into the new one and the temps have dropped off. Consider me not shaving...maybe not the whole month, but its gonna grow out some before it gets trimmed down again.

So, the neighbor's college freshman son drives a 93 Grand. The exhaust corroded into bits behind the cat. No big deal, get a muffler and a new tailpipe.

Except....

He let one of his buddy's brothers work on it. Ohmygawd....... after looking it over this afternoon (he called me when the muffler came loose from the cat again,) I told him just don't introduce me to the bozo who did this.

He ended up with the wrong muffler. Inlet is too small, so it doesn't make a good seal with the cat. Outlet is too big (no, it's not installed backwards, it's just the wrong muffler,) so it has a crummy joint with the tailpipe. Both sides are double-clamped. The muffler outlet has been hacked to try and make the seal (it failed.) The tailpipe is between the swaybar and the axle, so the tailpipe just doesn't go high enough. As a result of that, the kid hacked off the tailpipe hanger and tied it up with quarter inch rope.

Some peope just shouldn't be allowed to have wrenches.
sounds like he only has hacksaws and hammers, no wrenches :dunno:

seriously though, idiots running shops like that should not be allowed to own or work at garages.

I wouldn't use channel locks to crimp terminals that big... unless you really crimp a terminal that large, the wire can come out by changing shape a bit. If you're going to solder it, solder it. If you're going to crimp it, crimp it - with a hydraulic or ratchet crimper.

They do make some pretty nifty solder slugs for those terminals, I know some people who have used them and were quite happy with the results. I have used a crimper so far, but it only goes up to 2AWG so if I do my own starter cables on my next build, I'll be using solder slugs.

I have soldered lugs that size with a small butane torch, it helps to preheat the lug so you don't have to heat the wre and it's insulation so much. Avoid using a larger propane or mapp torch as you'll destroy the insulation.

If you find a welding supply shop most have the crimpy tool and will hook it up for a few $$.

Edit: I've not usd the slugs that Kastein is mentioning, old school flux and silver solder works fine.

I won't grow a beard.
Camille says it tickles her legs.

I would do no-shave, but I would look like a hobo by the end of week one.

That's funny, she has never said that to me....

It is all about the Irish Sean, bring the red to bed!! Mike, she said she already has enough to complain about when your there so she did not want to have one more thing to complain about and give you a complex :D

On a side note, the 7 acres across the road that we have been tied up buying for damn near 6 months is set to close in 2 weeks, finally..perfect timing since I just put the farm up for sale. Probably wont have any buyers at my price, but still for sale none the less. The guy selling me the 7 acres has an early 90's Brunswick 5th wheel camper that is in great shape inside but has some minor hail dents on the out side and said he would throw it in w/ the sale for an additional $2500. Thinking heavily about it but cant haul the Jeep if I go that route......

Depends on the state... some places you can bumper pull behind a 5th wheel. Would I recommend it? Nah...

Or just cut the back half off and build a toy hauler.

I already looked at the framing under it and it is not heavy enough to pull the XJ and trailer. Camille is more interested in it as a family camper since it has heat/air and a full bath...but I am honestly so broke I can not even think about another purchase for a few more months....
