Important

Regular ol' passenger plate here. No issues with it, BMV didn't flinch even though it's a 3/4 ton.

Technically it's the save the baby seals Environment plate, but it's still a passenger car plate.

we have an option in MO. You can use passenger plates or you can up the weight limit to heavier GVW plates. I dont remember teh cut off, but I plate teh white Chevy I had at WF w/ passenger plates b/c they are cheaper and I DD it a lot. My strictly farm trucks get the single heavy GVW plates or local plates/farm tags.

2008 Ford F450 Lariet 4x4 Crew Cab dually diesel 54k leather power everything sunroof and bells whistles and a touch screen stereo (funny that i'm listening to AM radio on that in the pic) that I dont need but think is oddly cool with nav.

And yes I know there is a hubcap cover missing on the passengers side tire.

Ah. Crap. Maybe a regular passenger plate would have been fine then up to 11k? I don't know. I went in with the impression I would need a truck plate. She asked if 7k (lightest truck plate) would be enough. I thought about my 6500# curb weight and how funny it would be to be over weight with 4 passengers in the cab, so I told her I'd take a 9000#. It was something like $120 for the next year. Ah well.

Nice going, mac 'actually needs truck plates' gyvr!

You guys with the 3/4 tons... What do you plate as? 9,000? I believe my GVWR is 8,800.

I went with a 9k plate the first year i registered by megacab. After talking to several people I found that it really wasn't necessary...legally it is probably what should've been on it, but when i went to the personalize "macgyvr" plate I dropped it to the 7k plate. Unless they tell me otherwise I'm planning on doing the same 7k personalized plate on the newtome truck.

PS now that four more comments have been added...
Its a very nice truck.
Tyler they are starting a new class in a week.
In IN you have to put a truck plate on a truck, suv can choose car or truck plate or personalized or speciality...

Looks nice Mac.

About time you joined the brotherhood.

Rev

Rev, I have always been in the brotherhood...I was just in absentia for a while...

I went to test drive the truck and I got in the drivers seat. I never touched the seat or the mirror or anything and I thought to myself, this thing is more comfortable than that dodge ever was...then I adjusted everything and took it for a hotlap and said to myself, I'm gonna buy this truck...

I haven't felt this good in the drivers seat of anything since my old 2000 F150...

sure theres less room in the back, but really, I'm only going to be sitting back there on long road trips when I'm sleeping...and the leather is soooooooo much more comfy than those church pews...

mac 'its good to be back' gyvr

That's not a motorhome.

Very nice though, should suit you and the chilruns well in the future :D The 200 yards I drove Rev's truck at WF I really liked. Maybe in 10 years when I can afford one...

I have passenger car plates on my truck; BMV says you can run them up to 11k (the specialty plates anyway). I've seen standard plates on trucks also.

Mac I am envious... I gradamatate in 2 years, and am hoping to get a new vehicle then... It most probably will be either a F250 or 350...

I'm gonna get me one of those Environment plates in November Byron.

And Mac thats a nice Rig, Even if its a Fraud!

And Mac thats a nice Rig, Even more so because its a Fraud!

Fixd.

Comparing (just the outside) of the Chevy/Dodge/Ford crew cabs, it's obvious why Dodge had to make a megacab... their "crew cab" looks about the same size as the Ford/Chevy extended cab. The extra room behind the seat in the megacabs is pretty slick though.

I don't think you'll mind the backseat mac. My friends fight over who gets the backseat in my Ford. Can't be that bad.

By the way mac what was the deciding factor for that over a motorhome? Availability? Price? Towing capacity?

It's not 100% mine but I do have a "vested interest" in a trailer for the Jeep as of today. I'm not out much and it's a really nice trailer. Just need to pick up a spare for it and a brake controller for Whitey.
Normally, I wouldn't be to hip on the multi-owner type deal but, no more than I'm out on the deal......I'm pretty happy. Thinking I may bling it out with some LED's.:D

Wait till you go to an event and don't have any responsibilities :)

would this said trailer be for the Jeep your were talking about getting rid of last week? :D Just ribbing ya man, glad to hear that you got one, now it makes keeping the Jeep and hauling it that much easier. Now push that Jeep to the next level

I think that'll be called Winterfest Eleventy.:D

Yes, that's the one. I'm going to give it a go for a while longer I suppose.....for now. Then, I'll end up like seanR. It'll just boil down to funding and time for wheeling events........key point is funding. It was a no-brainer really. Even if I didn't have the Jeep, it'd still have been a no-brainer to have it for the sake of convience.

It's a 2004 18' (2ft dove) wood floor car hauler, all channel with a nice 2 piece fold down ramp. Just right for hauling his 8N or an XJ.

Hey! I just realized that I've got an 8N at my disposal now! It's a win-win!
Score one for the Hale's!
