Important

I'm not going to the doctor, its probably more mental than anything. I just don't know how fed ex or ups can get there trucks up that fast in reverse on our driveway. I always did think they were driving too fast. I don't trust any shop to move that stuff over to another rig, so they can comp me for that time and effort too. Kim spotted an '01 with a "starting issue" for 1200, swap all my goodies over, then attack the 97 with tubing and big tires. On the upside he was dropping off my 6.8 SPC AR upper.

There are drivers, and drivers...

Bill, the UPS driver over at Dad's has been delivering there for well over 20 years, and has consistently been one of the best delivery drivers I've ever personally ran across. Even after moving out of the farmhouse 20+ years ago, he still recognizes me (okay, maybe that's not so good...) And there has never been an issue with him in the yard.

Sweet delivery vehicle. Ours at Advance are dumb. Colorados, Rangers, and Vibes.

That quarter panel didnt look too bad. You can replace the door and it looks like the the front of the quarter will pull out. The only thing is if you want it to be perfect there will be body filler and I dont know about body filler on a trail toy.
If you get in a bad spot and flex that filler too much theres a good chance that itll crack and break off.
Id let em total it, buy it off of em and buy another with the cash.

Storms over now. Just a few willow branches down.

Its torn pretty bad, the door is the easy part, your right I wouldn't put filler in it, cuz i'm sure it would pop, like I was just telling my buddy, 120 ft of DOM and some 3/16" plate will solve all the issues :D

Walker Evans Racing.
My choice for vendor of the year (OK, 2nd place, after RockStar Fabrication )

First day of Land Rover Natl Rally, in Leadville, CO:
Let my son, Jake drive the buggy on a nice easy trail; Chinamen's Gulch.
Doing one of the obstacles left the right front hanging down. Unfortunately, the bolt that holds the piston on the right front WE airshock had worked it's way loose, allowing the shaft to pull completely free of the body.

I thought, "My week is over".

I called WE from the trailhead when I got off, explained the situation and asked if they could help me out.
They said to call back in an hour.
45 minutes later I called them. He said, "We're building your shock now. Where do you need it sent?"
I had a new shock, free of charge, by 10AM the next day.
Installed it on the trailer and did Carnage.
They even had it charged to the right pressure in case I didn't have access to nitrogen. (I had a tank with)

Now THAT'S service.

That is good to hear, so many people now a days bitch about bad service but dont step up to compliment about good service. glad it worked out for you guys to keep on wheeling

I called the guy after getting off Carnage the next day to tell him he was responsible for the best day of wheeling I ever had.

Good to hear Brad. Glad they got you going.
That's the way it ought to be!

That's some good customer service. I should see what else WE has to offer. I'd love to buy a set of beadlocks.

I have their beadlocks.
Awesome product and built ground up to be a beadlock, unlike most that are modified from standard wheels.

Ok, here goes, rails would not have helped in this situation. Not when the object that hits you is a big white barn backing up your driveway faster than you would think is possible. Fed Ex truck nailed it, as I was sitting in it getting ready to leave for work. I never saw him until he was about 10 feet from me. I pulled the shift handle off trying to rip it into gear when I did see him. I am okay though he did jolt me good, think my neck is a lil tight tho. It might be totalled because its a 2dr and the sheet metal behind the door is torn and very well f'ed. If it had been a four door, i'd probably be looking at two new doors and just a lil sheet metal damage. But I'm expecting the worst, and I'm keeping this one no matter what and gonna pick up another one and swap all this stuff over. I've put so much of my time into it and it sucks to see that happen. That shadow is a '89 Cutlass which I drove in HS and we are getting rid of finally, why couldn't he hit that.

Nice shop rig!

There is an ENORMOUS difference between Fed-Ex Ground(different company) and UPS drivers. FEG drivers are contractors paid by how many stops and packages they can deliver in a day..

UPS drivers are Teamsters.. so they get paid the same whether they actually deliver the packages or sit in the parking lot at McDonald's picking their rears all day. But most of the regular route guys have been with UPS quite some time, so they are normally very good at it.

The new delivery vehicle:

Awesome. Did I mention I delivered for Advance for 2 years and worked management for 5 years previously? Need another employee? :D

I'm about 70% serious. Got a lead here in town for a county parks position, but if that falls through I'd be up to 90% serious.

Well.... Brian did say FedEx, and that's not FedEx Ground. FEG used to be Roadway Package Express, or some such (FedEx purchased RPE a few years ago.)

Yes, Fed Ex, I assume FEG refers to their ground delivery team? I did find out that it is a contracted route, he is independently insured but I'm sure fed ex corporate probably puts together a plan for its drivers that they could use if they chose to. Yes UPS seems to put together a better group of drivers in that aspect.

Anybody with tips on what I should do or what points I should press on with this? Never had to go through this before.

I guessed FEG from his description of the driving(and was right)... The regular Fed-Ex Express drivers(the old Federal Express) are usually pretty good. They have benefits and salaries comparable to UPS drivers so they are careful to not risk their jobs.

I came within a hair of buying a RPS route about 3 months before they were bought out by Fed-Ex. But Fed-Ex stills runs them as a seperate company to keep their drivers from trying to have themselves declared employees rather than contractors.

1) You're entitled to be "made whole." This means that the at-fault party or their insurance needs to fix or replace anything that is damaged. That includes YOU.

2) Remember that their adjuster will bring you a lowball offer to begin with. Expect that, and expect to flat out refuse it. You'll also want to make sure that you've got your info straight to refute what he brings to the table. You definitely want a list of every modification done to it. Do *NOT* accept that he will only return it to stock. It's not your policy that's dealing with this, it's HIS, and you're entitled to be "made whole." This is where you might consider throwing him a bone by telling him you'll swap all your mod parts over to a replacement, for a nominal charge.

By the time this is all over, you should have that same vehicle (okay, maybe a different shade of paint) sitting in your driveway.

man i hate driving

i would rather drive on F-ed up roads than put up with all this faukin construction around here
