So all the MWC guys should use it as their Avatar! :roflmao:

I am now on my way out to the driveway to tear apart my boat motor.
Anyone ever rebuild a 175 Johnson?
Can it be any harder than a Chain saw X6?

Tyler, I have also come to the realization that I too have way too many toys.
Something must go......

Are you totally rebuilding it, or just going through the carbs? I went through the 150 Mercury's carbs on the Glastron and they were pretty easy.

Pics of the boat?

I hear ya. My accountant (father-in-law) told me to hold on tight b/c when tax season gets here my personal property taxes are going to eat my lunch this next year...something about the new trucks, planter, combine header and trailer, not to mention the military trucks....damn the man!!:twak:

The boat is going to a local marine shop at the end of the week b/c I dont have the time to mess w/ it. I am focusing on getting the golden heep ready for the end of the month trip. The boat way find its way to new owners for next season and we might either upgrade or just get out of boats for a few years. Decisions decisions...

I think this will be a bit more in depth than a carb rebuild...

i can do the carbs with my eyes closed... i was a marine tech for four years... what leads you to believe it needs a rebuild?

Kitchen sink drain decides to leak today...

Pipe was put together by the old owner with those stupid slip-fit connectors. So I go to slip it back together and tighten that stupid nut. The retaining ring holding the drain into the sink was cracked and broke when I tried to press the pipe stubs back together. It shot the drain out of the sink. All of this about 25 minutes after the hardware store closed.....

And that's why I like to run high-octane (normally has no ethanol in this neck of the woods) in old engines, including the vintage '71 Merc 80hp.

I'm drunk, but pretty sure if you can see the wrist pin end THRU the piston, that might be a very bad thing.

No, the one you can't see through is the bad one. Its all fouled up with carbon, the other one (with the "hole") has a properly maintained "intercooled piston" option. It works about as good as adding stickers to your XJ for horsepower :D

X2 on the ethanol. I lost a 15hp Evinrude due to the ethanol being known to break down 2 cycle oils and causing corrosion. I actually mix the oil ratio a touch higher in ethanol gas if that's all that is available.
It's nice that the station near me is ethanol free. Although he's about 9-10 cents more than the neighboring towns.

Hey, I'm a "sticker wheeler" maybe not as xtreme as some, but I have stickers.

Rob, when I go up north I buy gas in Green Bay when I leave, and then in Baraga. The price in Amberg, and in Amasa at the Tall Pines are normally outrageous. Gas in Hoton isn't bad, just cheaper in Baraga.

I only have three stickers, Badlands, ARB and the American Flag.
more than that, we be hatin...

BOB

You don't have any WF stickers on it? :thumbdn:

Hey Chris,
We are heading to the Joplin, MO area Friday the 24th and will head on to Disney,OK Saturday morning the 25th. We are going to wheel Disney that Saturday and maybe Sunday, if we dont wheel Disney on Sunday we will go up to KS Rocks and wheel there on Sunday. If things permit we are thinking about heading up to Tuttle on Monday for another day of wheeling. Right now Disney is a for sure on Sasturday (unless the flood gates are open) and really wanting to hit KS Rocks for once. Never been there and would love to check out a new place. If we dont make it to Tuttle it is not such a loss b/c I have wheeled it many times before.

If your talking July I'm working the park all weekend the weekend of the 25th. I'll get there about 10pm Friday night and be there from about 5 on Sunday. Skip Disney on that Sunday. Since I'll be there all weekend if you wanted to camp (primitive camping) at the park we could arrange that.
