Just do it before you are like my Dad where his flew off and hit a windshiled of a passing car and supposedly cracked the windshield. I still think their windshield was cracked before the vent visor hit them.

I just watched a B-17 take off outside my office window.

There is an airshow here today, I might have to go check it out. We've got a bird on static display, and I think we're doing a flyover later.

seen two fighter planes last night at the NASCAR race last night.
they did the fly over during the National Anthem.
a small reminder that we are stll the the biggest badasses on the planet.

A b-17 and b-24 came through the airport one time when I was working, and a few other assorted small ww2 era fighters, was quite cool, a very unique sound to those planes.

I purposely do not fish on the weekend's up here so I don't have to deal with them on the water.:D Seems most of the time a boat that is going full throttle and less then 20 feet from my boat always has this "IL" sticker on it. HMMM. It's more of a local joke or stereotype about people from the flatland. Although I do have to say hearing about three Illinois(e) vehicles were torched this week made me feel bad for those owners. That I do not condone and the Sheriff has a pretty good idea who is behind them. P.S. NOT ME

I always want to pull over and take off my Illinois plates when on 90... Seems like the WI drivers try and cut off Illinois vehicles worse... But I do see some of the dumbest crap by Illinois vehicles there...

Got home last night....late.

Painted the interior of the trailer today and tiled the floor.

Also found out that Illinois requires that a pick-up with D plates needs a twice yearly inspection, and sticker. In reading up on that I found that it is also a Class 2 vehicle, 55 MPH max on the highway....whoops.

Oh the moron's exist here in the land of cow sh.. and beer farts (WI). I had a guy with WI plates passing people in a no passing zone while pulling a 5th wheel trailer. The best part is when he swerved to get out of the way and the stuff strapped to the back of his trailer fell off into the ditch. I wonder when he'll figure out he lost his stuff? Should I have told him? Nah. We'll let the Karma thing work itself out for him.

I sometimes wonder if inbreeding is going on in this country more them we know.:wow:

You may have to put "Not For Hire" on the side to avoid being hassled by DOT while towing.

Even a B plated pickup still has restrictions, like no use of the express lanes.

I had D plates on my super duty. It got me out of paying sales tax when I bought the truck, I don't think it still works that way anymore though. I never had it inspected, and never got hassled about it. I drove 75 on the highway, never any troubles. Many of the guys I work with have D plates on their company trucks and say the same thing. I think it is one of those things that is on the books, but not enforced... unless you are doing something else wrong. I did get a little nervous whenever I saw a secretary or state police cruiser, but they have bigger fish to fry.

Alright! So i got the tow hook brackets on the other day and it actually went quite easy. I noticed that the vacuum ball on the bumper wasn't even hooked up. WTF is that thing for anyways. I also wondered WTF that light ass bumper is gonna do in an accident other than crumple

I've got a buddy with an 06 F150 4x4 that is telling me that he'll might trade me his 85 Cj-7 for parts and labor to regear it... Everyplace he has got a quote from wants at least 1800 to do it.

I'm seriously thinking about it. 800 bucks in parts and a long day wrenching for a pretty clean CJ.

I've personally never done an 8.8 IFS... can't be too much harder then setting up a standard 8.8.

Sounds like a deal to me if the CJ is really clean. Be sure to check the drivers side frame back by the leaf spring mounts as they are notorius for rotting there. Get us some pics.:woohoo:

I haven't been over to give it a look over yet... Here is a couple pics of it though. The deal is real tempting but I just got rid of a project truck and I was kind of thinking about throwing some money at my XJ. I've been told it runs great...

Oh, and I've already got a set of 31", and 33" tires that will bolt right up, and I've even got a set of Scout II Dana 44's...

You'll find the scout axles inadequate for that CJ.

I had a CJ and bought a junk scout to pirate the axles from it. The rear worked out just fine. The Scout axle is 4 inches wider than a CJ wide trac axle, but all 4 inches are on the long tube side of the front axle and the spring perch is already against the pumpkin. It is possible to fiit if you outboard your springs, but that is a lot more work.

They'll work just fine for a mall crawler. I don't know much about the Jeep side of it, but I've sold probably 3 sets of Scout axles to guys with CJ's, someone must think they work. :laugh3:

Anyway, I'd either leave it stockish, or go all out and throw the D60f and 14bff I'm not having any luck selling under it. The last set of Scout axles I have are missing a few of the expensive parts.

Got back from the XRRA race in Hannibal monday morning at 6am...thank goodness I'm used to being up all night...

what's up with this 55mph crap in IL? 4 tons with a trailer? 4 tons trailer only? or 55 for all vehicles with a trailer...can't make heads or tails of it. We did 75-80 without any problems from any law enforcement tho...

Those signs didn't make any sense to us... (btw I've seen them before driving across IL, but since the subject has been brought up...)

mac 'loooooooooooong weekend' gyvr
