Important

I've tried like hell to get a different job. I've about given up. I can get a job no problem, it's just the major pay cut and lack of good insurance that I'd have to absorb. Not to mention the 60 miles I'd have to drive roundtrip. I don't have a problem with my current job, I just hate the hours and there is no light at the end of the tunnel of going to days.

Go with your gut Randy.

well, it will be a decent pay cut and lack of good benefits for this job as well....

my gut is so indecisive...

9 times out of 10 your gut is right...listen to your gut. But from my experience, dont listen to it after the afterburner nachos and a case of PBR...it may tell you something you dont want to hear (or smell)!

How's the cost of living out there compare to Chi-town?

Stop pussy footing around and hand in your notice.

Aren't you in IT? Don't you think that skill can translate well all over the country?

How long have you been wanting to move west? Here's your chance. You have an offer and are unhappy where you are at. If you go and don't like it, at least you will have the best wheeling in the country in your backyard. Can't say that here.

Go out there and immediately start sending out resumes.

Good luck!

Randy..

Do it now.

You are still young....when you get older it will be very hard to just pull up and go.

Take advantage of your youth and run free.

If you do not enjoy what you do where you are, then move on, the money will follow.

move out there, take the shitty job, and keep looking for another one.

X2, as long as you don't have to sign a contract, keep looking for another job with better pay and benefits. If you have a chance to move out there, and a job waiting, by all means take it.

I thought you had plenty of lights around there?

Sounds like a good opportunity to head out, Randy. Unless the pay cut is large enough to not allow you cover everything you need to cover...

Did you mention what part of Utah? SLC or somewhere else?

Either way, take it from someone that had the opportunity to pull the trigger and didn't - you will regret it if you don't go for a long time.

Would it be nice? "Oh, yeah...Boss.......I quit.:D" I have that dream every once in a while.

I did that ONCE..... I got told they don't accept my resignation, and I got promoted. BAD idea......

I certainly feel for you Randy. I wish I had thought about where I wanted to live before I had accepted my current position. Now I am looking at jobs in the company, and the places I would like to go and I have to worry about what's good for my army rather than where would make me happy to live. If you think the decision is hard now, try waiting until how are the schools?, or how close are the good doctors?, or my personal favorite How close is the grocery store, have to enter into the decision......

all I need to know is....how close is the Sonic :D

When I was 'free' like you, I felt the same way.

When we were looking at a job in Alabama, we literally had an arguement about there being no ALDI'S in Alabama....
