Important

Pack up and move, worry about finding a job after you get moved.

Take the "not so good" job now, move out there and find a better one when you get there.

I almost did that last year before I decided to go back to school, I had a job somewhat lined up doing the H1 tours in Moab, but Kim wasn't done with her degree yet.

You know... I've never really liked paying bills. I don't think I'm gonna do that, either.

well, things changed today at my current job, and I don;t like where it's headed......so I might be taking this job after all.....I need to let him know today.....

decisions, decisions....

Well if it's moving out of the MWC that's bothering you, (and I'm sure that is your biggest hang-up)......Don't let that bother you. You will always be part of the MWC regardless of you geographic location.

Would it be nice? "Oh, yeah...Boss.......I quit.:D" I have that dream every once in a while.

Can you counter offer the Utah job?

Been there, done that..... maybe not quite so much under the gun, though.

Several years ago, my boss stood up to the facilities V/P when new layoffs were announced in the Veep's staff meeting. Because he pushed back, his name got put on the layoff list. The following week I told my new manager that I was *REALLY* unhappy with the situation, and that I would be looking for new employment. I got lucky, I found a new job, and started it in just a few weeks. After I gave 2 weeks notice, a whole bunch of people tried to tell me that I didn't know the whole situation. Hind sight showed I was right, the whole facility was closed in 8 months. Almost 1,000 employees.

Keep your chin up, Randy.

oh...it's not layoffs.....it's everyone else I work with that has given notice recently.....

i'm going to be stuck doing 3-4 other peoples jobs plus my own for a while.....with no additional compinsation....

Sounds alot like my situation. Too bad I don't even have the option of just jumping to a new job. Proving you are halfway comptetent is a good way to get tagged with doing things others don't want to do.

X2 I had a co worker retire a month ago and I was told about apossible promotion to get that position, and then hopefully get a new co worker to help pick up the slack...well, I just found out that they do not consider the vacancy as high priority b/c showing my past "outstanding work ethic" that I can cover both positions....for no more money!!! Hmmmmm....thining about a departmental move in the near future. It is bad enouugh that I was carrying my coworker for the past 5 years in hope of getting that position....this is definatly a position where hard work did not pay off.

I've tried like hell to get a different job. I've about given up. I can get a job no problem, it's just the major pay cut and lack of good insurance that I'd have to absorb. Not to mention the 60 miles I'd have to drive roundtrip. I don't have a problem with my current job, I just hate the hours and there is no light at the end of the tunnel of going to days.

Go with your gut Randy.
