Important

Ah yes. Ball joints and a torch. Scaring the oil guy one loud noise at a time.

But seriously. The snap on ball joint press is the best tool I've ever bought.

I too was told once to not use the impact on the 3 in 1...I follow that advice on everything but ball joints...

The other lower came right out...that one took fire.

I got to get this axle done and in the jeep because I lose a week of prep being in Sacramento, CA the week before winterfest.

Twice I have used an impact on a ball joint tool, and twice I screwed up the threads...

You have to learn the tool.

I bent one once, a long time ago.

What you didn't see in the pic is that I had a big ass hammer that I use to beat on the end of the 3 in 1, then hit it with a bit of impact, hammer, impact, repeat...if no progress is made, do something else. I never get them to 'pop' just push them out and this is the first one ever that has required heat...

I need to make some spacers specific to the D30, as the ones in the 3 in 1 kit, aren't that good. I have a couple more knuckle swaps to do on 30s, as I keep polishing turds.

Ok need some advice... I'm losing coolant, about a gallon every 2 weeks daily driving. It's not leaking on the ground, can't smell it from the heater core and its not in the oil. I'm figuring it's going out the exhaust. Head gasket, cracked head or block? Is there anything I'm missing? Without pulling the head How can I verify this? I want to get my heep ready for WF even if I'm just the official easy trail slayer. If I gotta do an engine it will defiantly put me off scheduled.

Do a compression test.

What year? 2000/2001, 4.0's, 0331 heads have the reputation for cracking.

Yea it's an 01. I'll go rent a compression tester today. The plugs should tell me if I'm getting water in the combustion chamber too.

got a tester here and a heated garage if you want. I'm off today, work the next three, off the following three, .......

If it is a head, you don't need to put another 0331 on it, the older heads work, they just don't have the holes to mount the coil, which isn't a problem.
