I have an 8.1 I would sell.:D

Sweet so I can move up to #1 customer spot again? :D

8.1 4x4 with 100K miles
10 grand, from the land of no rust.

150k mile 4x4 5 grand.

just put a gallon and a half of coolant in the racecar.
That can't be good.

That first one is sweet! I would like to find more from the land of no rust. Is there a site you are using to search all over or are you doing it manually? I used to use crazedlist.org (I think?) which would search multiple areas but it looks like it is no more.

Brad's is a 98 7.4L.

Old body style fo' life! Honestly if I can get the steering sorted out I could deal with the rest.

Brad if you decide to go with a NBS I'd recommend 03-06. They significantly redesigned the electrical, and they are a Sht ton more reliable in that retrospect. They also slightly redesigned the dash, steering wheel, and center console (if equipped). I think there a little nicer than the 00-02s, but that's just my opinion.

they use google to peak at the craigslist, so sometimes you get a lot of dead links.
I found those with a "suburban 8.1" query. I did not try suburban HD or 2500. I used knoxville's zip.
you can get an avalanche with the 8.1

ugly as hell, but maybe more useful than a straight burb.

I just assume that all GM products from 1996 and on are complete electrical POS. Even worse than 80's AMC products. Seriously, I've never seen so many stupid electrical decisions across an entire product line.

Anyone going to Badlands next month? Got an itch to wheel and access to and the okay to take my friends JKU off road (want to have fun, but not break it). Bundy Hill was fun as a passenger, but not knowing the park, I choose to ride the whole time.

Jeep shut down on us on the first day of being in harlan. Kept blowing fuses. Gonna tear more into it tonight to see if i can figure it out.

I bet you will find the fuel pump wiring grounding out somewhere. Didn't Josh (RedHeep) have a problem with the O2 sensor wiring melting and taking out the ASD relay too?

I'm going to take a hard look at the FSM and jennies and see what else that fuse powers.

I still suspect injectors because of the way the PCM was trying to pull a ridiculous amount of fuel.
If you want me to flat rate box these ones back to you say the word. At least you'd have them for diagnostic purposes.

I popped a fuse for the ASD when I took out the exhaust on a rock and ripped the harness out of the o2.

I don't think it's a wire grounding out, because we put a 20 amp fuse in it and it runs. It pops a 15 amp fuse, but not on initial startup, only after it's ran for a few minutes. Something is causing an excessive amount of electricity in that circuit. If it was straight grounding out, it would pop everytime you put the key in it.

I still think it's something in the ASD system. The way that relay was clicking on the trail makes me think something is pinging it really hard. Since the ASD controls ignition power to the pump and all the engine stuff, it makes me think something is screwed up in there.

I think its the ECU.

Almost never the ECU. Sometimes, but almost never.

What year and which 15A fuse?

Stuff the ASD relay fuse powers: ignition coil, alt field coil, injectors, O2 sensor heaters, part of the ECU, and a number of other things.

I've got the wiring diagrams in front of me, pretty wide experience with jeep harness troubleshooting, and have done custom/stripped down/swap harnesses to put HO 4.0s into other things, so if you can tell me what fuse is popping, I can probably pinpoint a trouble spot on that circuit or at least get you started in the right direction.

It is fuse #22 in the pdc that was blowing. It is on a 2000 xj. I found a wire tonight that goes to the fuel pump that had a bad spot in it and I'm thinking was grounding out against the fuel rail. Now I believe it's got a bad cam shaft sensor as it popped a po340 code.

just looked at the pics from the crawl...

so many MWC people we should just rename it MWC south. :D

I would do dirty things for an 8.1 avalanche... But they are few and far between.

Brad if you find something you like down here the land of no rust bed and breakfast is always open :D

sounds like he fubared the motor.

mac 'I've seen a diesel xj once' gyvr
