The coup de grace was gracefully crawling over the boulders at the turn in the beginning of trail 5. Excellent weekend all around, ready for Superlift this weekend.

That was a great ending to a good trail. On Sunday of the weekend of Winterfest the park owner spotted me through there with only a little rocker damage. Then on to some black diamond trails. Those were some great times.

Return of the wheel hop today. Shook my muffler right off into oncoming traffic.

So by the time I got stopped and went to retrive my muffler, I still was the idiot kicking an extremely hot, scratched and dented muffler down the side of a state highway. Maybe O'Reillys has a Thrush in stock?

I replaced the trac bar, steering stabilizer, shocks, control arm bushings, and brake pads while I was at it and the wobble was still there. Alignment is the cure for this jeep.

Jeeps on the trailer ready for a weekend of rocks and mud. Going to be a great weekend. Vacation starts tomorrow afternoon after work and don't have to be home until Monday afternoon.

Just back from Hawaii.

Rented a JK for the week. consensus is IT SUCKS. Hawaii is awesome though.

my JK review:

Brakes: excellent

steering: too sensitive (maybe I'm just comfortable with vague steering now). Turning radius was pretty tight.

ride comfort: On road was excellent, huge improvement over previous models. Offroad ride was very rough, it was slinging our heads all over the place.

seating: re-fawkin-tarded the access to the rear is just plain stupid and could have been easily remidied if the engineers had bothered to try to get in and out of the thing.

Top: surprisingly quiet until a semi passes head on and breaks the seal against the windshield. Katy could not do/undo the top latches and we didn't even bother to figure out the rear window until we turned it in.

power: =teh big suck. I don't know wtf chrysler is thinking about saying that the engine is more powerful than previous years because this thing was cool from 0-5mph then a lot of noise and not much acceleration afterward. This thing was almost as slow getting up as my old dodge with the 225 slant 6.

Transmission: we had the auto (apparently all the rental co offered) and it was worse than horrible. the damn thing would try to cruise 50 mph at 1300 rpm, the Torque converter had little to no hill holding power and the shift to second was like getting kicked in the ass but not moving.

Overall: nice toy, but useless if you have more than one friend. Cargo access was waaay too much of a pain in the ass. I think I'll keep the Cheros running for as long as I can.

Oh and a seatbelt broke.

I was extremely disappointed, I was actually looking forward to driving this thing before I actually got ahold of it.

We did have a BLAST out there though.
