Important

Why not just save some money sell the truck you have and buy a PSD Im sure you can find a decent one for around 3k. I paid 4k for mine and its a 97 crew cab.

I wasn't really looking for a diesel but my searches always included diesels...

there wasn't anything decent for 3k.

There was one ext cab f250 4x4 7.3 with 240k that was a giant rusty pile...for $4000...guys said he'd take $3500 (my buddy looked at it)...

otherwise everything is 5 or 6K and that's still nothing thats in any better shape than the truck I bought.

this one is a 460 gas rusty pile of an F250 around here...

My 6.0 is the most unreliable vehicle I've ever seen. Always broken, never works. Practically blows up every day. It's been on it's last legs since the day it got driven off the lot.

I was talking to Dylan lol. But I can agree with you. I got a fairly good deal and it had dented up doors. But has been one if the most reliable vehicles I've had

The Cummins, IH, etc motors we have are all industrial/ag stuff so finding a trans to bolt up might suck too.

no it's not.

SAE #2 clutch housing pattern on the block.

you go to MDT/HDT wrecking yard and pick out any of the MDT trans. You'd probably be best off with a spicer 7 speed OD syncrod jobby if you want it to basically drive like stock.
It's the FSO 7xxx something or other.
You can toss a baby 10 or roadranger in it if you have to feel like a man.

Mechanical clutches, and the clutch housings have the mounting points for push or pull. You can order the clutch bits through any spicer shop.

Some trans tunnel mods is a given, but you'll never overload the clutch or trans in a 3/4 ton chassis. Even the hated spicers are rated for 50K lbs GCVW.
Look under the wienerbox in the campground if you want to see how all that crap bolts together.

fun fact, my IDI motor has no motor mounts attached. It's kind of creepy that it just floats in the frame rails.

I used setup bearings/races and this is the closest I could come. Now this is by no means a highway vehicle, but it may see 50mph once and a while...
Backlash: 0.010
Preload: 6 lb/in
Runout: 0.003

Wait, is the pattern on an IDI (with the block adapter from Ford) actually just an SAE #2? I'll be damned. It doesn't LOOK like one... but I could be wrong.

I love working events where they don't feed you, hide you in a corner behind a divider and don't even give you a chair to sit down...it always amazes me. I work freelance, therefore there are no repercussions for me if I mouth off or tank an event. Not that I ever would, but it amazes me how oblivious some people are. I've been standing here for about 3 hours now and about 3 hours to go. That and this restaurant manager is a jerk...I have a pretty big bs tolerance, but not sleeping much lately is starting to wear on it lol...ah well, at least I have my phone with me to kill time

you use the IH block adapter.
You can order it from the truck dealer for like $50.
They just call it a 444.

that or you could just go rape one of the millions of schoolbuses that had that setup in it.

Ahhh, I had no idea. It's really $50? That's insane, I figured it would have at least another zero on the end.
