Heads are at the machine shop getting milled/rebuilt, should have em back by Friday.

I certainly don't mind the fit flexible women I see there. :lickout:

:twak: lol anyway,

I have a great time with it it's like the whole world melts away and there is only what I am currently doing and that's it.

It's very true what you said Suzi.....I just figured you would be laughing because comments like these! :D

You're the sixteenth person to tell me that just today... Its tempting...

too much electronic bs to worry about in a newer truck...way easier to start with an older shell and basic wiring to get everything to work...

now bec's jeep is where the cummins should go...since you are building the frame you should just fab mounts for a 4bt in there while your at it ;)

TBH I really need to look at measurements for one of those... The nice thing about this frame is its so simple I could easily hack the 225 mounts out later for a diesel install... OR keep the diesel for my next project... Which most likly won't be a XJ...

still at work...
32 hours in 2 days :( i don't mind 16-18 hour days when i'm working my full time and getting paid somewhere else for the other hours, but these are all salaried hours

i'm mixing some music we recorded today for the new york times website arts and entertainment section. probably the most enjoyable thing i've done here in a while, but its still too many hours to start the week off...working 6 or 7am till midnight every day until next thursday, and i'm starting to feel sick today. blah

someday i will get to work on my projects again

We actually did manage to get the HAAS CNC Mill up and running, but still fiddling with g-code and such, right now we're trying to get the students to write g-code. Shoot me some plans and i'll see what I can do.

Its nice that my 'projects' can be linked to the classes I teach, as well as any extra time that I personally work on them is considered professional development.

Well guess we will have to keep an eye out for a limited slip 8.25 axle to swap into Jeep. Found out tonight ours has an open rear end in it. Guess to the junk yard and craigslist we will be shopping

well i can drop off a complete diesel motor that needs to be refreshed and ya'll can build the spacer and put it together with the clutch and tranny for me ;)

Seriously for the time and $$, just grab an 8.8. You should be able to find a 99-01 with disc brakes and a LS for under $150

If it just needs to be refreshed with no machining, we can do it. My bore-bar is only for gas motors and TBH I haven't had the time to even try and get it running and we have no mills that can handle the block. What are the rough dimensions of the spacer?

the engine was running when pulled...the motor just needs to be cleaned, some gaskets replaced and primed and started. its a fully mechanical motor...

the spacer is roughly rectangular with rounded edges...i don't remember the dimensions. i have it all written down somewhere. basically i have a 2.3l peugeot turbo diesel motor that i picked up off of craigslist for cheap from a eurocar guy in des moines when i was living there. as luck would have it, they actually came factory with a ba 10/5 which the guy happened to have. The ba 10/5's have a removeable bellhousing and the tranny side bolt pattern is identical to the jeep bellhousing. the shaft diameter, spline count and pilot bushing hole are all the same size...its just 1.25" longer on the shaft than the stock peugeot tranny. a 1.25" spacer ring would allow the jeep tranny to fit perfectly on the back of the bellhousing...thus allowing you to use the stock ba 10/5 mounting location and the stock np231 that came with that tranny. the ba 10/5 doesn't hold up well against the jeep 4.0, but the 2.3l would be the perfect companion...

they got 40mpg in the cars they came it which weren't any lighter or more aerodynamic than a jeep. i won't expect it to get close to that, but someday it will get dropped in an mj...someday

Hmmmm..... I'm wondering, would it be simpler to throw the shaft in a lathe and take the 1.25" off and machine a new pilot??

hint, check the you-pull for a mid to late 90s and early 00s Durango or Dakota. Check the sticker in the glovebox, if it says corp 8 or corp 8.25 axle and says rear limited slip, rip the carrier out and stuff it in your existing 8.25.

LSD 8.25s are really, really, really common in Dakotas (but are typically spanked and need new clutch packs) and fairly common in 8.25 equipped Durangos. Make sure it's an 8.25, they put the 9.25 in em too, just compare the diff cover shape.

I did my LSD swap in my MJ for the cost of gear lube and RTV because I took an XJ 8.25, stuffed the LSD from a Durango in it in the junkyard, bought the whole pile for $137, flipped the XJ axle on craigslist with my MJ's open diff carrier in it (yes, I reset the gears properly!) and put the LSD in my axle. The 8.25 is a side adjuster axle, so you don't even need any reshimming, and ring gear bolts can be reused safely once or twice if you use loctite on em. Make sure to keep each carrier bearing cup with the bearing it was broken-in with, though. I would have bought new ring gear bolts but I was on a shoestring budget at the time.
