Are those the guys that blew up their 454? They have all my sympathy, that is just about a worst case scenario. I decided if that happens to me, I'm going to the nearest dealership to get a loan, driving home, and selling it before the first payment is due. What I'd lose selling it is probably less than getting a motor replaced.
 Hey, Brian. I was glad to see you online and I almost shot you a text. Good news on all the planning. Hang out here a little more often...If any of you remember me, or care, I am not dead! I've got some realistic plans for the jeep these days and I'm in a place where I can start giving my XJ some attention again; dare I saw WF looks like a green light for '14. Going fall color wheeling this weekend, looking to snag some good pics. Did manage to bump into Sean, Ron, and Kim this summer.

As good of deal as that is, I need something local and that can handle a 5th wheel...

Then don't settle for a 5.4......
If it happens to me its burning to the ground and insurance will pick up the tab......
It is a shitty situation, still want to know the details.....

I Intend to do just that! Feel free to shoot a text anytime.Hang out here a little more often...
Truth. You will be killing a 5.4 with a 5er and 2 Jeeps. I wind up my 5.3 with only a 6k camper behind it.
We were going to camp at Brown County SP next week for 3 nights, but the transmission in the Avalanche is starting to slip more and bang on takeoff. We are going to day trip instead, leaving me several days to get the Jeep roadworthy so I can park the Av. Then we get to decide to dump $$ into the Av, or trade it off on a 3/4 ton something. Great decision to make when trying to buy a house.
Most likely, last time a friend's rig threw a rod it severed the fuel lines and it took a ton of fire extinguishers to put it out.If it happens to me its burning to the ground and insurance will pick up the tab......

Right on! Hit me up if you're ever in town and have the time. We'll see what's shaking and catch up.I Intend to do just that! Feel free to shoot a text anytime.
I have to get my Cutlass ready for Hot Rod Power Tour next year, which means I'll be hanging around the Bay area more often in the future.
Or do the same but buy the gap insurance and when you reach your destination...wait for it.............Just do a donut......

Trying to sell the wife's S10 to a student. He really wants it, dad wants to look at it and make an offer...
I'd like to get enough to buy an F250 off another student. 99 Gasser with extended cab. Needs manifold gaskets (I swear all old Fords do) and the trans needs work (beginning to slip), but I figure those are things I can do in the shop. He'd take $3500 for it...

Have fun with that trans overhaul. I have done two of them. Its an E4OD and is freaking heavy. That thing probably weighs 250lbs without the convertor.
There is a couple special tools required to do it but it can be done with some in enginuity.
Buy the shift kit when or if you do it. It takes care of many of the common problems with that unit.
