Important

Do you work 8 or 12 hours?

We are at minimum in June, July, and August so unless you put in for vaca in January you have to trade days to get a day off usually.

10 hours.

We always run at minimum it seems, but most guys can get days off whenever. I'm low man on the totem pole, but I still got the Crawl approved and I put in for it in May.

Yeah...why I like my department...

We have a min on third shift of 36, that's the city.

We also have county, the college pd, troopers if they are around, and city guys working part time off duty but will back.

On one crazy shooting that I was the first to arrived at, I called for some assistance (bar shooting with hundreds of people) and there were about 50 officers there with in minutes.

That would be handy. Our city PD has 4-6 on thirds, but they won't venture out of the city. College PD has one or two, they stay on campus.

Luckily the shooting I was involved in happened in the city; had 10-12 officers there quickly. Out in the county, probably 20-??? minutes for backup.

We are in the top 5 or so in Indiana for land area. Not anywhere near the population though. Once you get outside of Vincennes the population is fairly sparse.

The college PD is out in the city near their area a lot...I think they get bored.

Works for them because they had a foot pursuit last night and there were 10 to 12 city officers with in minutes to back them.

We don't venture out in the county very often...but if they need a back they will send us and we will go.

I'd say in the next few years we will be a metro department like Indy and city and county will all be one. Just need the sheriff and police chief to give up a little control.

So I'm seasoning the smoker right now and I'm thinking of making some jerky for the crawl. I've never done jerky before so I found a couple recipes on pirate. My only question is since I'm going to be drying the beef out at like 140*. Do I need to worry about salmonella and stuff like that? I'd rather not soil Flex's passenger seat on the way to Harlan...

Yeah, we don't need that because if you're bringing jerky I'll want some!

Yessir!

Just buy the floor pan. I tried pulling a kman, it's more trouble than its worth on a 97+

Earlier may be easier due to the seat mounts
95+ is the split on the seats, but you can buy those two braces/mounts that the seat brackets bolt to for like 19 each online, if you want to, let me know and I'll find the part numbers again.

Air hammer is the hot ticket for removing the rest of the floor from the unibody rails
I like to find all the spotwelds, then grind them out a tiny bit at a time with abrasives, then pry the tattered remnants of the floor up. I figure the less I bend the frame rail flange and the less material I take off it, the better.

What size bolts are on the axle end of the upper control arms? I pitched mine I think and I need them lol
M10, I forget but I think they're coarse thread. Make sure you use 10.9 or 12.9, I forget which they are, but 8.8 is way too soft.

get a seasoning kit like high mountain that has a cure...it will help. i usually tried to make my jerky at the max temp for jerky making which is around 160 or just above (hard to keep consistent in a charcoal smoker) but ive done goose, duck and beef and never had a problem with it. just make sure its not too chewy and that you store it in a fridge or cooler when you arent eating it

In winebago county, pop 350, 000, there are 2 deputies on duty in the west side of the county. If I call the PD it will be 30 to 40 mins before any help will arive. I won't even call untill the situation is under control.
Speaking from experience. ..

If you get arrested for a hidden fireworks charge while at the crawl...
Matt will dissown you :gag:

Illegal fireworks.......Ron, it's KY! :D

Just got back from JeepCamp South Dakota.

Was there 5 days, wheeled a total of 7 hours due to weather and then blowing a high pressure power steering line 15min into the ride on Saturday. Due to us being in the Black Hills Nat. Forest, I was asked to get off the trails asap so I wouldn't leak all over...

Sunday we went out again, just the Max-Bilt crew and had a blast! Will be going again next year!
Just a short vid...
