Important

My 08 F350 will go 300 to 330 miles on a fill up with the big trailer. I'm getting btw 8 and 10 mpg, since I don't want to run out I usually stop around 300 miles. I'd like to have an aux tank just for big trips so that I can stop when its a nice place to stop, I've had to shoehorn it into a couple of places. I don't drive it in town much so I can't really say what the in town miles are.

My bladder is road trip set for around 300 miles or about 6 hours. That's with a 32 oz diet soda at every stop. Can't do water on a road trip as it makes me have to wiz faster.

I don't have a work commute, I walk out to my car and go to work. I usually drive 80 to 100 miles a night and fill up with 10 to 12 gallons...this 2011 Impala gets 8 to 10 mpg in the city...E85 is a little worse.

mac 'back up job was always to drive a semi' gyvr

I hate driving, Lar drives when we go out and even on road trips.
If I was a rich man, I would have a driver 24/7.
I think it's an age thing. When I was younger, all I wanted to to do was drive. Now after 30 plus yrs of driving I hate my 1 mile commute to work.

My XJ gets 4 trips to work with a full tank....

5 if i drive it like a biotch..

Not much happened yesterday, however I'm going to pick up my future rents-in-law's Sante Fe that they've generously offered to let us use for now, but found this at a semi-local dealer...

Anyone think this is a deal or is there something wrong with it?

Keep in mind I live 5.6 miles from work and never have to go above 45mph...

I'm getting to be an Olde Pharte, I can't do that anymore.

indeed.

used to be the only thing slowing me down was other people's bladders and fuel. Now I'm good with stopping every 4 hours.

wienerbox will go 500 miles in one shot if I wanted.

I really think you would end up regretting an extended cab vs a crew.

I always wanted to be a truck driver also. i love road trips and have always love driving. i have driven to Texas And Florida stopping only for food, gas, and to pee a few times. i have always figured i would be pretty good at it, but girlfriend turned into wife, and someday wife will turn into baby momma and being gone for weeks at i time could get hard on a young family.

SAM'not wanting to divorce again'SET

Truck driving school might be cheaper than EET..... but I suspect that opportunities will be better with an EET cert. It sounds like Dan's got himself a good gig, I've also heard some pretty major horror stories about a lot of the trucking industry, and how easy it is to get royally screwed.

...truck driving school will most likely land you in a OTR truck (over the road), leaving you on the road for a week or longer at a time, unless you get lucky and land a local job. Around here the McJob I have is a premium driving job. If I were to change companies I would deliver fuel.

Truck driving schools aren't bad as long as you go to an actual school with a job placement program and not a company who also has a school.

Companies like England, Swift, Central, Werner and all the other big companies have their own school and they say it's free...as long as you work there for a year. The problem is that year will be the worst of your life and if you quit you will owe them twice what a regular school will charge.

I am planning on continuing my current route. i have told my wife several times tho, if i for what ever reason don't graduate or when i do i struggle to get a job then i will turn to truck driving.

but i should not have either of those issues because i am paying for all of this school therefor i will just waste my money if i drop out and as far as a job goes, well im planning on having skill in such a wide ride of energy based jobs(hydraulics, wind, solar, electrical, etc.) that i hope im a hot commodity

the company i work for in the summer wants to train me to get my license, but then that means instead of the guy sleeping in the cab after a long day, i would be the guy driving after a long day. they usually cut the drivers early so they can get a few hours of sleep, but personally i do better when my sleep is at the end of my work day instead of in the middle of it. it would mean extra money, but it would also mean being on shows more often in the summer...right now, i don't want that. i love being at home...even though i'm gone a lot

and for mac, th and you other indiana guys...in relation to my last post. why the hell is gas so much more expensive in eastern indiana than western indiana on i80??? its seriously usually about $.50 more a gallon!
