Talking about MPGs, I took this picture today.
This is a short bed so it has the 22 gallon tank.
Got to love the 7.3!

I feel that if the government feels they need regulate everything else, than all vehicles should be required to go at least 500 miles on a tank of fuel. No matter what their MPG is.

My jeep will go 500 miles on a tank of fuel if I put a 50 gallon tank in the back. That doesn't solve anything.

Seen this with Dodges too. My brother had an 01 CTD. His mileage would kick the crap out of my 05 CTD but I'd kick the crap out of his on the hills. He would average 19-20 and I'd average 14-15. This is pulling a load.

Now he bought a brand new fully loaded with everything under the sun 2012 CTD dually with the new HO engine that makes 800 ft lb of tq bone stock. It will out pull everything but...,he gets 11 mpg empty and about 8 mpg pulling a load. I'm not sure it's a good trade off. Not to mention that thing burns through tires like a top fuel funny car.

One of the requirements to qualifiy for a military contract for a vehicle is that is has to go XXX miles on a tank of fuel. Like I said, since the government thinks they need to be all in our business, why not require the automakers to meet these requirements. I would love to own a newer car that I can go to Tyler's farm in Missouri without having to gas up before I get home. I can't even do that in the 07 Camry. Just too small a tank.

My dad is getting close to 22 mpg in his 06 CTD with an auto.

My work truck will go 650 miles on a tank. It just takes 170 gal to do it.

My Camry will go 500 miles on a tank.
I think our Camry could do if I took it easy, but I tend to drive it like I stole it. I try to keep it under 90 on the interstate, but not by much.

I'm getting about 7 miles per gallon with my new Volvo. that's a lot of miles per fill up
Did you forget to mention you got 500-650 hp under the hood. And drive around at 80,000 pounds.

We all know Dan drives a McBigRig!:twak:

No dice today, no one wanted to budge on price or payments. Picking up the future-in-laws Sante Fe this weekend to borrow for a while...

I wish I had 500 horsepower. they got these things detuned so bad
I feel for ya man, we had a locale trucking company that bought 10 -20 trucks a year from us. The first thing we had to do is turn them down to 57 mph, they were all USPS over the road trucks with dedicated routes.

Your determining factor for buying a vehicle is how long you can go without stopping?

Who the hell wants to go 500 miles without stopping? I'm too old to spend 9 hours in a car without getting out.

What kind of military vehicles are you talking about? Tanks? 7 tons? MRAP's?

I see contracted military vehicles in the parking lot every day. They say Ford, Chevy and Dodge on them and look a lot like the ones you see at the dealership. None of them are going 500 miles without refueling.

76 on the pedal, 72 on the cruise. I love being in a non split speed state.

There is more to it than that. If you travel at all, the more miles you can go between fill ups the easier it is to find places along your route that are cheaper.

Even towning a load, I'll expect at least 350 miles out of a tank in the Dodge, but that's farther than I can go. I have to at least walk around the truck every 90 to 120 minutes.
