Important

I'd be on the horn, making a vendor's life uncomfortable at the least. Were both failed drives from the same lot? This is a pretty good reason to use varied drives in a RAID configuration.

yes, same lot.

media failure.

unfortunately with the current state of the hard drive industry getting varied lots is a bit of a problem, they're just getting stock back from the great taipei flood debacle.

and now that segate and WD are pretty much the only games in town I don't think that QC is going to get better.

WD just downgraded the warranties on new drives from 3 to 2 years, what's that say?

needless to say that machine got brand new drives across the board.

Just pulled into the highschool parking lot... Kind of nervous... Came on here to try and calm myself down.

Dan I wish your son the best of luck! It takes a certain person with deep convictions to do that kind of thing for a career.

Congrats Austin, sounds like a great fit. My Auto Teacher in high school is really the one who got me interested in vehicles/jeeps which is why I am at Chrysler now.

So you really can have an impact on the future of kids at school. Congrats again!

Way to go Tex! Good luck to you dude!

Having worked part time in the schools the last several years I can testify to this...

I talked to my son last night, he is going to British Columbia Canada to take some qualifying classes to work on the oil rigs up there. He will be gone for only 12 days now, but if he gets a job on a rig he will be moving up there in the fall.

That job is probably one of the toughest jobs around, but it also pays $2k/$3k a week.

Nice. My bro in law scuba dives same thing 2+k a week!

Congrats bud!

Got a phone call from Ash (my daughter) telling me that they just got an XJ from her grandpa for free. Sounds like I've got another to work on.

Free is a good price!

Way to go, Austin! Kinda jealous. I'd like to get kids into the industry, though I have mixed emotions on whether or not they should look into it as a career, at least they would know how to work on their own stuff... Win/win.

that sounds like an awesome teaching position...i wish we had auto tech classes at my high school. we only had "manufacturing" which was a fancy name for wood shop. i took it any way and it was actually the first class where i got to use a cad program. i think at the time it would have been versa-cad...this was around 1995 i think.

had an alright day today...i was kind of worried that the 105 degree temps were going to be too much after spending a day and a half in bed being sick. lots of water and occasional shade breaks got me through fairly easily. hopefully tomorrow i'll feel well enough to work out again. at my 5 week weigh in i only lost 25 pounds (definitely lost more since then) BUT i have lost a lot of inches around places of my body and i doubled the amount of pushups i did on the first day. all in all the exercise/nutrition program is going well and i like how its making me feel so hopefully i can keep it up after the 10 weeks runs out

We had auto shop, welding, and manufacturing type classes. I wish I would have taken an auto shop class now, but I am slowly learning more and more.
