I'd be on the horn, making a vendor's life uncomfortable at the least. Were both failed drives from the same lot? This is a pretty good reason to use varied drives in a RAID configuration.

unfortunately with the current state of the hard drive industry getting varied lots is a bit of a problem, they're just getting stock back from the great taipei flood debacle.
and now that segate and WD are pretty much the only games in town I don't think that QC is going to get better.
WD just downgraded the warranties on new drives from 3 to 2 years, what's that say?
needless to say that machine got brand new drives across the board.
