Made it to Rausch creek in 10 hours...

Got 8.1 on first tank and 8.7 on second tank, around 600 miles. Picked up a check engine light otherwise truck and trailer did good.

Thank goodness for the trailer cause the ports johns are far away and the ground is unlevel and hard as a rock...with rocks.

Qualifying and tech tomorrow.

With all the others things trying to close our access, insurance is the one I did not expect a park to let shut them down.

I would have expected a budget that would have been able to cope with insurance fees.

The park was relatively small, but nice. Like Rockport, he rented a lot of his land. A couple years back he had a baby and took a FT job and ran the park on weekends. Last year, he had to cancel a couple of large events due to excessive moisture. Add all that into the exorbitant fees that Insurance Companies charge for any Motorsports event, and as an owner, you have to balance your hobby business against raising a family. Family always wins. I will miss that place.

BTW: The W4WDA has indicated that the 4-Wheel'n with Feel'n event will be held there this fall. I am not at all sure how that can be, but it was posted after Jeremy posted his Closure notice, so maybe they have an agreement.

As someone that deals with insurance for an off-road park, insurance companies suck. At KS Rocks we basically budget out XXX.XX each month for our insurance. But if we didn't have any events or manufacturer sponsored park rentals there is no way we could stay open due to the insurance costs. It just doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room for everything else that you need to run an effective and efficient park.

Luckily KS Rocks has a good core of volunteers, lots of clubs that support us through our adopt a trail program and the occasional donation from individuals/groups. If it wasn't for that there wouldn't be a KS Rocks.

Redbird was the same way until the state took over.

Thanks Ron, for explaining it. Too many distractions at home and work lately.

It bothers me that, once again, another opportunity just fizzles out without so much as a helping hand being offered to them or McCaslin. I know there are groups of individuals that tried to save McCaslin but no 'organizations' did at all. (I am certainly not refering to NAXJA )

Something Ron said in the festfest thread was a good point, although maybe not the best place to bring it up. But maybe in the members only forum out of public eye and before the next round of donations are presented.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program. :geek:

It shouldn't be so difficult to give someone money for something they are trying to sell......:(

Good thing I didn't take the jeep off the trailer, heading up north for some wheeling again. Here is a shot of some of the body damage from last weekend.
