thats a good site, i use it often. they have a lot of the hard to find stuff other parts store just don't seem to know about.
Think I might buy my step dads 6.5 3/4 ton. I said I always would if he sold it but now have second thoughts. I'm always second guessing when it comes to money.
watch for the high speed canueter vavle assembly in the 6.5, if they go it will fold like a taco.
Huh?
in the 6.5's they had a problem with the assembly in the canueter valves letting go too early and under high torque/demand (high speed) they were known for premature detonation, if they let go and detonate, it will casue that assembly to fail and casue all sorts of problems. They are not too hard to replace and are not too expensive. I have some left from an old 6.5 that we had bought to replace and never got around to it before we sold it. I would let them go for $100 shipped to your door, and that is a steal!!!. I have paypal.
You really have to check the service manual. Some manufacturers spell it caneuter and some of them spell it canewter.
If you don't get the right one, you might end up with a low speed valve instead of a high speed one.
What is a canueter valve?
I know on the 6.5 it is canueter, at least that is how it is spelled on the box.
The canueter valve is explained above, it is a valve body/assembly that regulates the pressure to torque demand in a diesel motor, it is a functioning part of the proportionate drive assembly that GM used on those motors.
OK thanks. Ill let you know if I get it.
Its bone stock 250ish k miles. Hasn't done anything major. He's owned it for 3 or 4 years. Its got rust starting on cab corners. Still very fixable. You ever do the PDM relocation? Have to change harmonic balancer or IP?
FAWK YOU TYLER! FAWK YOU JOSH! ESPECIALLY FAWK YOU FLEX! FAWK ALL OF YOU!
k "owned" man
That a-hole FLEX drove by my house and didn't even honk.
What year?
Yes, my PMD is in the front bumper on a heat sink. Very common and very necessary mod. Run 2 cycle oil with every fillup (.5 oz/gallon) to prolong the life of the IP. If it's never had injectors, do that ASAP. They're cheap; $400 for a good set vs $400 EACH for a newer diesel. Bosch only, not cheapos. I haven't replaced the balancer on mine, but it is a good thing to check. Not very expensive, much cheaper than a crankshaft if it fails. I know Mark aka LawnCher' changed the IP on the Sub 2x while he owned it. Has 221k on it now and it runs like, well, a 6.5. Not going to beat a Cummins or PSD, but it is paid for. Spend a little $ on a 4 inch exhaust and boost/EGT gauges, you will thank me in the long run. Keep it cool and it will be fine.
Do some reading at thedieselplace.com and thetruckstop.us for more info. These are still good engines, even with the stigma they have.
As for the rest :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
:roflmao: Thank you Kman!
I'm sitting next to Rev enjoying this 3G reception, gonna be a good day of wheeling tomorrow!
