Important

This trailer has conduit over the rolling bits, but it's not full length. I'm sure at some point I'm going to be rewiring it.

could be worse, a local outlet for a trailer manufacturer here puts what looks like used tires on new trailers.... nothing like spending 3 grand on a new trailer and needing tires in 6 months

They do that a lot here in Indiana. Used car tires on a lot of new car trailers.

So on the topic of towing...

I had someone give me 4 straps and I want to know if I can use them for securing the Jeep to the trailer.

They are rated at 10K break rating and 3300lb work load. Is this legal?

I've hauled a lot of flat bed products thru my youth but always with chains and when I used straps they were 6" wide and a much higher rating.

I use the same rate strap setup. I have not had a problem with them or the law. Two in the front and two in the back.

I always make sure that the working load of 3 straps is better than the weight of what I'm towing, just in case one of them breaks.

With 3300 straps, you're still at 9900 lbs with 3. It would be a little more concerning if you had 2000 lbs straps, then you'd be at 6k for 3.

That's probably not very scientific, but it's what goes through my head. That's how we calculate how many straps we need for a piece of gear inside the aircraft.

They don't give trailer tires away...but I may have found a diamond in the rough...now if I can just get them before next Wednesday.

This is a really great price....

Now multiply x6

I'm tired of E rated tires blowing out and not lasting. I'm going for the G-spot...

By contrast the Goodyears of the same flavor are... $360 ea!

Dude those are SUMMER tires.

what does this mean?

probably 65 to 70 with this trailer.

I called a local place to order them without hopefully paying shipping and after I told them what I was doing they didn't seem to make a big deal about summer tires...if they even saw that.

Boss came back from lunch and set this on my desk... Said he thought it would be cool in the Jeep.

Guess Menards has them for $10 and he couldn't pass it up!

I tried two local places to get the Gladiator tires from. Both were $40! higher on each tire after I figured in taxes and shipping than the online place. I try to keep my business local, but man that's almost the cost of an extra tire.

Should be here on Monday or Tuesday...get them mounted on Tuesday or Wednesday...to leave Wednesday...

Somebody bring me back down to earth. Bought my trailer from Kaufman two years ago for $2100. Most of you have seen it.

Why on earth would you use 12 ga butt splices as wire nuts on the wiring (both wires stuck in one end and crimped and the other end left open) and then electrical tape them on a $2100 trailer?

Is that sort of thing normal? Maybe I'm being too anal by using the right splices and heat shrink.

My Jamar was the same half assed crap when I bought it. It was also new.
