Guess that depends on where you live. Click on link in first post. As far as stupid, that depends on your outlook. Driving on 28" of ice with heavy loads some probably call stupid. These guys make 50-75k in less than 90 days. Sound stupid now?

i said it was stupid. people do stupid things. so do I. so HELL yeah id do it in a heart beat. you only live once.. might as well try.

i live in on the central coast of california

Wasn't judging you, just saying that the $$$ they make is pretty hefty compared to the risk.

Looks like there is a re-run on at 11:00 pm your time.

fire off the highway 10 miles from where i live and knocked out cable for alot of people. oh well missing my Dodger game too... dammit

I love that show. I'd do that. Not just for the money either. For the fun of it.
You'd do it for free?

Dude, call them, I'd bet they'd jump on the offer for a free driver!

well not nessisarily free, i ment that id do it for fun, i wouldnt do it cause im makin 75 grand in 90 days or something.

and i would give em a ring, cept i dont think they want a 16 year old out there runnin 10 tons of stuff around on a flatbed trailer on ice and snow.

First it was the crab boat guys. Now it's the ice road truckers. Wonder when they'll get to the "shocking lives of electricians".

But anyway, Those guys look like hell when they get to the end of the line. Must be the stress of constantly being ready to freeze your ass off! I wonder how much of the money they make is eaten up by overhead like fuel, insurance, repairs, living expenses, etc. Food had has to cost an arm and a leg. Probably 10.99 for the 2.99 Denny's Grand Slam! Interesting show though.

They aren't regulated by Hours of Service laws like they are down here. They can run for 48 hours straight if they want to...which they often do.

I would consider doing it if it wasn't for that. A good 18 hour day in a truck and I'm done. Add the stress of keeping a hand on the door handle in case you have to jump out and there is no way I could do it. Those guys have basket ball sized nuts.

There was an article in a recent Car and Driver, I think, where the journalist rode with the driver. The driver was saying its not as dangerous as everyone makes it out to be. He'd been doing it for ten years or something, and only had one wreck, in which he just slid off the road and needed snow chains to get out.

The diamond companies pay for all their needs, so they don't need to pay for things out of the money they make.

Pretty interesting read.
