I WANT!

Pretty nifty. That's gotta be a light weight trailer, though, or it'll squash the tow rig like a ... oh wait. It *IS* a bug. Never mind.

that is actually really cool.

I LOL'ed at "If Dad performs a few of these gyrations while the family is having breakfast there could be a trailer load of trouble" lol

I could sit my fat ass on the roof of mine without denting it.

Plus, the main structural "rainbow" shaped part of the car is actually realy thick. Id say that part of a bug is thicker than our frames on our XJs.

That is amazing!

That is kool.... Little Glenn showed this to me before I think. Or we saw it on some tv show on the history channel about RV'n. He loves Bug's.... not sure why.

I love the things! With the exception of their reliability. Some people gets 500k out of one of those engines. I'm lucky to get 20k out of one before they spin a rod bearing. I guess you're supposed to check the oil everytime you drive it.

They gave one away on Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune once in the 70s. Perhaps that where you saw it at. The one they gave away was advertised as 360* rotation with most any car. It was shown with an Elcamino.

that was pretty sick. i've been toying with the idea of a teardrop for my xj. there are all kindsa plans online to make your own. i had a couple of neat ideas to make mine something unique. such as building the camper as a removable accessory for a flat utility trailer, so instead of having to have my 'teardrop trailer' inspected by DOT, i would have an already approved utility trailer, and the sleeping quarters would merely be what i was hauling on the trailer, and completely removable as a unit, so if i chose to, i could once again have just a flat trailer for towing my motorcycle or something.

as for old beetles, i think my best bet would be to go to mexico and buy a 2002 or so type one beetle. it's the same thing as the 50's, 60's, and 70's beetles, but with a modern interior. they have one at the lane auto museum here in nashville, right next to a 1955ish one that is so perfect that it makes me sick to look at it. i don't know anything about how durable that engine is, but i've heard that it is recommended to adjust the valves like every other oil change, and i have noticed that they leak as bad as the same era harley motors, so you might be spot on with the "sposta check the oil everyday" idea.

Last time I was in Mexico I saw like 4000 VW Bugs. They were all the newer models but based off of the 74 Super Beetle. I was under the impression that all the Bug's produced Post-80 were all based on the Super B with the strut suspension up front.

I just sold my 3/4 complete project a couple months ago. I just lost interest.

Old picture but this is all I see...
The fenders are painted too...
