For a wheeling / get together (for the peps that would rather play bunko than wheel) sub forum in the midwest chapter. I don't think enough people use the unofficial trail runs sub forum, and with all te other crap that gets talked about in the midwest forum trail runs / meet and greets, can be easily missed.

there 5 or 6 events planned on the first page of threads here. I don't use widwestxj, and I am sure most of the new people here don't even know about it.

Idea: How about a sticky Labled news/info or something to the effect secret private NAXJA MWC site. http://www.midwestxj.org/

I never knew about until now......

We need to get the word out there about the MWC website or have I just been living under a rock the whole time. :anon:

Quite frankly I agree. I haven't been there in three/ four months at least. IMHO if it is drawing funds from the MWC treasury we should consider canning it!

I second the MWC trail run forum.

JMHO

This forum is supposed to be for MWC related "business" only, all other MWC related material "should" be on our own site.

I would urge all MWC members to visit the midwestxj.org site more often.

Realize by "Forum" he actually means another topic area on this Forum, not another site.

The only reason the super secret squirel site was created was so that certain banned members could participate in NAXJA affairs. It was very simply a snub at the NAXJA BOD at the time. It has served it's purpose.

Let's move on folks...

There is no real reason why there can not be a separate topic here in this chapter for just trail rides. Infact, I don't see a reason each chapter can't do that.

The real question becomes that of organization. Perhaps all the chapters should be identicaly set up. For Sale; trail rides; Land use; general discussion. That way all members would know what is happening in their area at a click instead of, as Gil so well put it, "wading thru(sic)" a pile of unrelated posts.

Wow...

You know this for a fact or this your opinion?

You think we'd go thru the trouble of starting/maintaining another website for THAT?

The other site gives us a little more leeway than the mothership, and at times it has proven quite usefull when the mothership crashes...

Banned members don't participate in NAXJA affairs anyway...

They keep in touch with friends.

Follow?

No, I won't follow you Gil.

I will remind the Chapter that 2 years have passed since both the banning and the alternate Forum was created, and there is a simple motion on the table.

If the blockage to this motion is solely due to the existance of the alternate MWC Forum, then it is time to look back and re-evaluate the decission to create the Forum.

* Has the alternate MWC Forum done what is was designed to do?
* Is it really benificial to have more than one source of MWC information?
* Why can't we, as the motion suggests, have all the information at hand right here?

Sit back and think about this for a moment. I don't know how many separate 4WD sites you visit per day, but I visit over 10 separate sites each day. I know it would be of benifit to me to loose one from that list and to put all the Land Use, For Sale, Trail Ride and General discussion to do with this Chapter in one place.

Since IIRC you were the one who compained about having one more "Forum" to visit (post#7 here), does't it make more sense to have all the info in one place? If not, why not?

Until NAXJA can host our pictures like MWXJ can, I'd rather see it go away than MWXJ!

And, while I have friends across the country from NAXJA, the ones I care most about, and whose opinions I value most are the Midwest group, so I find it helpful to have a forum totally seperate from NAXJA.

The few outside of the MW whose opinions I value, I can always call, or PM...

MWXJ was NOT created to allow "banned" members to participate in any NAXJA event or to "snub" anyone.

It was created because at that time chapters were encouraged to form a separate chapter website to handle much of the chit-chat that happens. The chapter forum here was intended, as I stated above, for chapter related business only. While I respect Brain and his motion, I would rather see us move more of our discussions to MWXJ, and less here. I agree that we should promote MWXJ more, and I can see about that, perhaps including that link in the above forum info sticky.

This discussion is good, and should continue, but lets not make any false statements without having the facts.

Make false statements? No, but perhaps just a different view of the same event. The timeline as gleaned from this Forum and the MWXJ Forum fits the description of the statement I made. The BOD did look into that Forum, but never publicly posted their findings. And the current status of those banned members on the MWXJ Forum, which flies a MWC NAXJA CHAPTER logo, is current.

You still didn't answer the question I posed:
* Has the alternate MWC Forum done what is was designed to do?
* Is it really benificial to have more than one source of MWC information?
* Why can't we, as the motion suggests, have all the information at hand right here?

Now, respectfully, your statment that the MWXJ Forum was created to relieve this Forum of "Chit-Chat" and to have business only here on this Forum has always seemed askew with the reality of things. Take for example the "Important" thread. A perfect example of what you stated you wanted to relieve this Forum of, and you participate with regularity. If I am not mistaken, some informal events are planned out on the MWXJ Frorum.

Here's my take:
You want only MWC business here? Then what better place to post MW area trail rides, formal or informal, or MW Land Use issues than here. IMO those items are our business and all will see them.

The time line is coincidental.

As far as your questions:

No, MWXJ has not yet fulfilled its design, but it is getting better.

No, it would be better to have all the trail runs, M&G, etc.. on the MWXJ forum.

There is no reason we CAN'T have everything here, but it really should be that everything is at MWXJ, with only chapter business, that is discussions related to the chapters ongoing operations, here.

The "Important" thread was started to help to bring MWC members to this forum, to get people used to checking it.

As far as status of members on MWXJ, you would need to discuss that over there.

I'll second the motion.

I'm new here, but I've paid, and I hadn't heard of the MWXJ site until this thread. I just checked it out and don't see the advantage of having 2 seperate sites. Seems like we should cover stuff here in the appropraite sub forums.

I hardly ever go to midwestxj, because everytime I go there isn't anything new.
I think we will start using it more if we link from here to there, like a sticky with a trail runs link directly to the trail runs at midwestxj, etc. I like the direct links rather than just to the main page.

I don't know if I explained it well, and there might be flaws to it.

I kinda like both ideas, but if we have the website for a reason, we should use it

Perhaps we should better publicize the MWXJ site, and give it a chance, before making a decision?

X2!

Ron, take my word for it, thinking that the MWXJ site was set up for banned members is WAY off base.

Hello,
May I step in here?
May I bring some FACTS to this table?
Hi,
Ron, I love ya bro, but you coludn't be wronger if you stated the moon was made of Wisconsin Cheese!
The idea of a Midwest website started during a conversation between Randy, Lawn Cher, and my self at WF '05.

We needed a place to conduct our chapter BOD business in private, at the time, we only had the telephone, and the chat room here.

We had quite a profit from that years WF and we decided to give something to the membership.

Opie Bennett(XJ Ranger) was asked to put the web site together, and Randy(InterpidXJ) was asked to host it.
Opie got all of the things in line and it was up and running the first week of April, 2005.
During this period, Bgcountry and BajaXJ were banned from this club.

Jeeplas and I were married in April of '05, and as most newlywed do we wnt somwhere after our wedding. While we were gone the members area was created. Opie, being webmaster, gave the permissions for access to that area, he let Bgcountry and Baja in. I did not know that at the time, I was busy do other things.

The Website WAS NOT CREATED FOR THOSE TWO, PERIOD!

It took awile for them to get bored and leave on their own.
with AEs and IP address changer things, it was, and still is, impossible for us to keep unwanted people out.

Those people are gone now, we must move on.

The BOD area on MWXJ is used all the time. We have planned the last three chapter events there also.

If YOU people do not want to use it, that is fine, it will continue to opperate as an avenue for Chapter business to be done. It is the only means we have.

I can turn it off and leave the picture hosting, events planning and the BOD area if you want; Or we can enforce the "Chapter Bussiness only" policy over here. (Don't worry we wont, but it is in the rules)

As far as chapter websites are concerned, every chapter is encouraged to have there own website! That is one of the things I would like to get done as soon as this other stuff is over with.

As for your questions Ron...
* Has the alternate MWC Forum done what is was designed to do?
Yes it has! It serves as an online meeting place for YOUR BOD and as a place to plan YOUR events!
* Is it really benificial to have more than one source of MWC information?
No, it is not. If we as a chapter conducted our business as we should, there would only be ONE place to look for chapter information.
* Why can't we, as the motion suggests, have all the information at hand right here?
I will post the sugestion in the MWBOD area and I will get back to you ASAP!
