I bought the xj in april of this year and have been laggign on registering it.I went todfay and the fees are like $350.I heard I can regis. offroad and pay a fee of about $40.Is that true and if so,will I have to pay the late fees?

Not sure on the fees but it would make since that it needs to be up to date on fees if you want to register it as a OHV. If you just want to go to a registration place they can knock it way down. Yesterday my cousin went to reg his baja bug they wanted 400 at the dmv and he took it to one of those small places that help you with dmv paperwork and he only paid 100 something bucks!

the late fees will def apply.. you should have done it right when you bought it.. i just bought a silverado and my reg was upi this month so i went to aaa before it ws due and it cost me $71 to put it my name and non op it

You can green sticker it rather than street register it, if you won't ever drive it on the street. If the registration is past due, the fees and penalties will be less with a green sticker (OHV registration) than a regular registration because the overall fees are much less. But, you won't be legal for the street.

x2 on what Goatman said, I've also heard that once you green sticker a vehicle it is next to impossible to return it to street registration again. Make sure you don't plan on driving it on the street ever again ;)

where is this place and do you have a number?

Hmmm,
I just parted out a '92 XJ with current registration. I have the entire shell, the VIN's and a title.
Might be something to work with and save DMV fees.

Found out the scrap price wasn't what you'd hoped eh? :D Last one we cut up we got 20 bucks for, that's why I said it was a shame to let a current red'd shell go to the junker.

Good luck finding someone who can give it a good home!

PAP gave me $25 for the shell of my old black XJ, and they came to pick it up.

They also wrote the check to "CAL" .. (wtf?).. but it did manage to clear through my bank. ;)

Yeah, San Diego couldn't be bothered to pick up either '90 shell we had... maybe because they're 20+ miles from the local PAP...
