I always wanted a 40x60 pole building…

January to June 2023 - update. Finally got a bit of time to post some pics.

As with anything you buy and use, it needs maintenance. Even a platform lift needs the tires rotated...this will be easier later...stay tuned...

So the night before Winterfest 2023, I wondered if the RV and Jeep on the trailer would fit in the buildingwith studded walls and concrete...as it turned out...it does...

So...this is where the generator worked out, along with a bit of God's protection. On March 31st, 2023, an EF2 tornado went thru the field behind the house and barns. We were spared with a little bit of roof damage on the house and lost the security light pole in the yard. The buildings were otherwise undamaged. The generator ran for 42 hours while we were without power. We are blessed. For perspective, that green area of the field in the picture is 100 acres.

SO...you build a 40x60 with 16 ft ceilings. What is the main thing you want to put in it?! A lift!!! Ordered one from the Amazon and it came in a couple days. Even tho a semi would fit in the driveway, it was cleaner to pick it up from the shipping yard.

The Kubota with the forks is more useful than I could ever imagine.

Get it unloaded and into the barn.

Drill baby drill! We installed it ourselves. Dad and I split the duties.

First post up.

Second post and the top piece. The lift is rated for 10k in 6 inches of concrete. Since we didn't know where we wanted it, we did 5 inches for the entire floor. The 5 inches of concrete makes it able to lift 9k. Should be decent for anything we can throw at it.

Some good looks at the studded out walls as well. Since NAXJA limits us to 10 photos...stay tuned...

So what's the first thing you do when you get a lift set up in your barn? Well you put your Jeep on it of course!!!

How much fun is this?!

I don't remember what the lift needed but if your lift, needs a lift...you lift it...

To prep for for the Moab 2023 trip in October of 2023, I wanted to do gears in my truck. Kind of also the reason for the lift in the barn. Also, my gear guy said I'm not laying on the ground anymore to do gears...you get what is going on. Anyways, the JTR comes with 4.10 gears. I am running the metric 35s and wanted 5.13 gears. The Facebook Jeep groups lost their minds about 5.13s and 35s. I have found it to be a wonderful thing. At 70 mph it's only 2500 rpm. We averaged 16+ mpg for 3500 miles to Moab, wheeling and back. No Regrets...

My high school buddy Seth. He's worked at Dana in Fort Wayne for 30 years next month. His original job was installing factory gears. He's been doing gears in my Jeeps for the last 25 years.

We're bringing sexy back on the lift...

So, I am retired and soon building a 40x40 shop and will install a lift. I looked at the one you bought and the price is great but I can't help but wonder how beefy it is for that price. Are there any issues with it? Do you think the arms are strong enough ? Can you stand under your truck? Would you recommend it, or a more HD lift, for a 99 Dodge V10 4wd 2500 weighing 5500# ?
I look forward to doing stuff to my 92 XJ
AND my big Dodge...on my own lift.😎
I only want to buy it once though.
Thanks in advance.

The arms flex a wee bit. I put my 91 F350 with a 460 on it with no worries. Its rated 9k with 5 inches of concrete (what I poured) and 10k with 6 inches. No fears standing under it.

The biggest difference between this lift and a more expensive one is it has manual latch releases on each side instead of something that releases both latches. It’s a hobby lift for me and works great. My dad just stripped his 55 Willys pickup on it.

Darn it, I came here hoping for end of 23 into some of 2024 updates.
