Hurricane!

we've been getting tornado warnings every hour for the past 3-4 hours. trees taking out wires and transformers down. we still have our power though. anybody ever use their xj to anchor a tree!! i'll post pics later. i have a fairly large but new tree (about 9 years old) so it is catching a lot of wind and bending like a bungee. so i tied it off to my xj using a tree saver and tow strap. developer clear cut the vast majority of the development so i really want to keep this tree from blowing down

The walmart near me was even sold out of camping supplies like propane stoves, candles, lanterns both electric and gas, inverters, and 1lb bottles of propane. That was at 11:00 this morning.

the xj tree anchor - working well so far. sorry for the crappy night time pic, i didn't feel like getting soaked again

Jeez, the heavy rain just started here and my basement is already flooding. Can't wait to see what it looks like in the morning. Took all of our saw horses down there and moved everything off the floor.

made it to NYC, figured out how to prime and start the generator, 3/4 filled the tank, gotta fix other shit then it's time for another fuel run... can't get to LI all the bridges and shit are closed down. I've never worked on a generator on the roof of a 30+ floor building in a hurricane before.

I am coated in diesel and rain and rust, it's almost like I'm working on the 5 ton (very similar motor too, a big ass cat 6cyl turbodiesel.) This is a blast though, and there is no way I'm working Monday and possibly not Tuesday as a result... I am gonna be sore.

i just got back from helping Anne Arundel County Police move a tree that was blocking all four lanes of the road. I was makin sure that my evac route was still clear (in case we had to leave) and saw them. pulled up and was like "yall need that tree moved?" they looked at me in the waggy and said "that trees been there a while, its not gonna move". i looked at them and said "well i got 4Lo". end of story, i pulled a 50 foot tree that was blocking a major route to the nearest hospital with my 87 waggy. i feel good... now if the damn power would come back on i wouldnt lose my mind. i wanna go out and help and shit, but i aint got the gas... what the hell lol

dont have the money. only reason why i didnt. i start my new job this tuesday and ive been unemployed for about a month. so bills are pretty tight. i managed to fanagle to get the cb antenna though

lol its one way to get on the good side of the po po. you wouldnt happen to have an SWR meter would you lol

damn. well when i track one down ill let you know. i can receive pretty well, just no one can here me. figure a cb would be good for like, power is out, cells are out kind of thing. similar to the quake we had.

generator's full... we managed to find a 24 hour mobil WITH DIESEL that we could still get to without hitting roads that are shut down.

I've been at the firehouse since 7...we wont get any sleep tonight here in Woodbridge.

Lots of coffee being drank between calls lol.

Tree limbs down all over my property, nothing too large thankfully. I did hear a loud snap and crash in the woods alongside though.

We never lost power here, but there is flooding in the area and many are without electric.

My neighbor called me last night after Midnight, he tried to get to the firehouse and had water up to his doors in his JK.
