How Well

How well will a stock Jeep Cherokee do down at the Badlands off road Park? How well will a Jeep Cherokee do with a 3" Old Man Emu lift and 31" BFG mud Terrains do down at the badlands off road park? Do the TJs and YJs have any advantage over XJs or are they pretty much the same off road?

from a driveline standpoint - an XJ and a TJ have the same front end, rear end, transfer case, and many other similarities - HOWEVER - their shorter wheelbase makes a difference some times -

A stock XJ should have a lot of fun at Badlands... provided that proper tow points are located front and rear...

With the exception of PINK, some of ORANGE and spots in the quarry, I think a stock XJ can have a good time at the Badlands. There are bypasses for many of the major trouble spots. However, what may be considered "stock" tires wouldn't do. A decent all terrain tire would be needed at a minimum. In addition, a stock XJ would need SOLID recovery points front and rear should you need "recovery."

In addition, if you are worried at all about clear coat scratches and perhaps a few minor dings, then the Badlands isn't for you. It's not for the mall crawling crowd by any stretch. With care, knowledge of YOUR vehicle and YOUR driving skills, with an experienced spotter that wont let you do anything out of your realm, you can have a great time.

I wheeled a stock LWB MJ at WF. Hella fun, did all of green and white no problems. On All Seasons no less.
