How to make your Jeep louder?

give it time and the exhaust manifold will crack, mines plenty loud that way. although that will be fixed soon i hope

you could always chop the exahust pipe off at the down pipe....that'll be plety loud! :scottm:
That would be awsome! I know what i'll be doin' tomorow. lol

take a BFH hammer to the exhaust manifold, its cast iron, a few good whacks & it'll shatter... if you wanna louder jeep why not go all out??\WTF

Glasspack

and hollow cat, header, and intake. Seriously it's wonderfull but only to a select few. glasspacks are $20

Are you trying to say your straight pipes aren't loud? Are you using pixi sticks???

I ran 6mths without any cat or muffler which is very, very loud. So to me a straight pipe from the cat all the back is not loud at all. Whatever stock size is for XJ's. Bought a welder so put everything back in except muffler. Jeff

heres what would work and imdoin it as soon as the last legs of project clutch come............but check this out..........right before your cat pick-up switch that you can bypass the regular exhaust before the cat and just turn the key and let it rip........that way you can have loud and stock.............im most certaintly gonna try it after i pass in spection(maybe?)

ok now that you have the respect and attention of all us rednecks. you can get a full bolt on exaust from quadratec for about 100.00 but... who needs an exaust anyway.

One time I think I saw a picture of a cherokee with straight pipes coming out of the hood and up like an old school hot rod. That may kinda be up your alley....

"chop off the rest of the pipe after the muffler... heck take off the muffler.. lol"

i recently got a new dynamax catback system, installed it all, and it sounded like total crap. not a difference in sound at all. so i sold the muffler to my friend, went to pepboys and got some 2.5" bendable tubing and swapped that bad boy in where the muffler was. shortley after i put that in i noticed a rattle in the cat, so i took that out and hollowed out all the honeycomb and everything. now my jeep roars like a tiger - and it passed emissions!!!:)

Get an old bicycle inner tube, cut about a foot long piece and hose clamp it to the tailpipe leaving about 10" of it hanging loose. You'll be the envy of the Mobil home park. TC

Well what I got is Illegal, but trust me I've managed to fool everybody into thinking theres a beast of a V8 under the hood.

I cut the cat off (first illegal move) and replaced it with a 2-1/2 inch pipe then I added a cherry bomb in place of the old muffler. To top it off I got a 14 inch long, 3 inch dia. boom tube (not a fart cannon) exahust tip. After all that a substantial increase in HP and Tourqe. It pretty much sounds like a hoped up 350, something you'd hear from a Camaro SS. The best part is when tooting the gas it has that old hotrod style raspy popping exhaust note. At idle the ground shakes from the vibration of the exhuast note but not too loud to upset a cop. :guitar:

how about a few bullet holes through the muffler and straight pipe. Heck, why stop there. you want respect...put some bullet holes all along the sides and windows. woo hoo! have at it...HTH

Now why would someone do that??? I don't like the way you invision what you think is cool, sounds tacky. You put speed holes in yours too?

Yeah, lets all "Homer Simpson" are cars.

i personally dont think a jeep should be too loud, a nice drown or groul when at idle is cool but only big 8cyl should roar, and definatly honda civics. i heard this mini cooper the other day that sounded like it was a camaro or corvette. i have a 2.5 exaust from the manafold back, dynomax cat and thruch muffler. i think its too loud, at about 1500 rmps there is this high pithc that get so annoying i hate it.
