good call bgcntry 72, i do believe i used reverse as well. its soooo much easier to make a straight cut with the shaft spinning if your using a cutoff wheel.

xjnation's way sounds good as well, im sure you'll get good results both ways! good luck!

So with the shaft spinning in reverse, and looking at the shaft from the circle end of it, would you cut it from the left, right, or does it matter?
As mention, put it in reverse use the cut off wheel and cut for several minutes. Then stop in between to prevent the shaft from warping due to the heat caused.
Better wear a face shield or goggles of some sort. You'll get metail bits all over the dom and kisser. :)

Covered with rag and zip tie and cut

I am well aware of that, but from what SIDE should I cut from while it's spinning?

Nice nice thanks for the info, i`m pretty confident now bout runnin it w/ my 35s. Where can I get the best price??? Als when they tell you measure the driveshaft is that on flat ground, or drooped out??

Something I didn't see in any of the post.....Use good titanium drill bits with lots of cutting oil and a good American tap and handle with the above mentioned cutting oil and go slow, check your hole often:rolleyes: and enjoy!:D

I have the hack and Tap with 7" of lift 37" boggers and 4.88 gears and it held up when I flogged my rear 9" through a rated 7 trail in only 2wd. If it holds up to that I don't think you will have a problem :D

Well just ordered it!:D Hopefully I`ll have it ready for the weekend! Ive really been itching to ride somewhere ASAP, thanks guysNAXJA

Just did the Dirt-Bound Off-Road SYE Hack-n-Tap on the "NEW" '95 Cherokee, and it was easy. The new yoke they give you is from an early '70's Corvette setup, and it looks very beefy !!! Picked up a spare front drive-shaft at the old pick-n-pull because now my front and rear drive-shafts are identical. That is a cool advantage of doing this easy mod???
