Listen, 9/11 happened and we all wanted to kick ass. Great. The hijackers were just about all from Saudi Arabia, but let's just pretend that isn't true. Osama was in Afghanistan AND STILL IS. If we didn't like Iraq and wanted to finish a job, so be it. There was enough UN sanction violations to make a case to go back to Iraq before 9/11.
But no, Osama is still free because we don't want to fight him on his own ground. We are containing him and trying to make a good show of finding him, but we are not. If that is not true, why do we have 200k troops in Iraq and not in Afghanistan? They are busy in Iraq doing what the military was not designed to do. Keep the peace and build a country. The military is for invading, conquering, and holding ground, period.
I'm not against war. I am for the proper execution of it. It is a very useful tool in the proper hands! We do not have support of the international community. That ended when we told them to fawk off 4 years ago. Popular to many at the time, but a bad move.
We should have never left Afghanistan until we had Osama on a platter. After that, if we wanted to finish Iraq we would of had more pressure. We could have made a case against them at the U.N. to comply or suffer. No more dickin around. But no, we made up some bullshit about WMD and did what we wanted for personal reasons. Bad move. Now our toops sit in a sand box as targets, with no clear objective and no clear targets. The terrorists are loving every minute and to put salt in the wound, we have to listen to that Iranian talk shit. It is a disgrace!
I don't hold our administration accountable for going to war. I hold them accountable for the poor execution of it. It is inexcusable and has hurt the country I served more than it has helped it.
