Well, The opinions are out there. you do what you need to do. If you feel comfertable with the service, and the price. then have it done..
Personally, i dont know many people that would be, and yes i think your being taken for a ride. but its work that needs to be done.
I dont know your living situation, do you have space to work on the rig? i would seriously take half that labor money and buy an un-imaginable amount of Harbor Frieght tools, and start making it a learning process. there is NOTHING you could screw up beyond repair if you researched everything you were doing on this forum.
if you have a friend that has enough driveway space then see if you can have a wrenching party there. take some of the saved money and buy some pizza and beer. you will be surprised at how much help and support you get with that kind of bribe. i understand the single parent issue as well- my daughter loves to help out with everything i am doing. if your kid(s) are old enough to help then they can learn a lot with this.
