is it possible to get a TRE with longer threads to use on the stock track bar to make it adjustable? not sure if they make longer TREs that will fit in the stock track bar. guess if they did you guys would have tried this already.

maybe another way to do it would be to cut the TRE end of the stock track bar off and use the threads of a stock TRE with the end cut off to attach the 2. then use another TRE in the other end of the cut track bar. hope that made sense.

feasible? safe? any other ideas?

i might just try recipe number 2 because i have all the spare parts. ill let you guys know how it turns out. if it works we can add it to the junkyard upgrade list.

still not sure if it would be safe.

btw, im trying to fix a case of the death wobble on the cheap.

The factory trackbar is all one piece!!

JKS makes a build it yourself adjustable track bar kit and I believe you can buy the individual pieces from them. maybe you can build something on the cheap that is safe and functional, using the original track bar.then I can copy it! www.jksmfg.com
that kit is $191. kinda defeats my purpose of a dirt cheap adjustable/extended track bar.

any idea of how much longer than stock it needs to be with 6" of lift?

the bottom part would need to be bend. that way it wouldnt contact thecoil bracket. Rough Country has track bars for $99. PORC has them for $130ish

I hope this doesnt turn out bad like the guy that tried to make the adjustable control arms out of stock ones....

:D

read my post! JKS sells the individual components, I understood that you wanted to do this on the cheap.you can buy the ends seperately. I just mentioned the kit so you could see the parts that come with it.sorry for the confusion.

are you referring to the end at the axle or the end at the frame? on the stock track bar its the end to the frame side right?

i guess im gonna have to go ahead and tear the track bar off my parts jeep and examine it some more to get a better idea of how im gonna do this. if i start building out there ill take some pics.

OK, i see it now. its under replacement parts. i love how they charge $3 for a jam nut.

If your going to do anything, dont use a TRE!How much lift do you have?

That TRE that comes on stock trackbars only has enough travel to accomodate about 2.5" of lift. After that you're asking for trouble.. and trackbar troubles usually result in ending up on your roof on the side of the road - if you're lucky enough not to hit a mini van full of kids on the way.

if the stock TRE can only handle 2.5" of lift no wonder this thing has wicked death wobble. can you recommend a TRE that is capable of more travel. i was thinking of just cutting the stock track bar in half and welding large nuts to them and getting a piece of threaded stock to attach the 2 but if the stock TRE cant handle it im going to need a different TRE.

No, you need to get away from TRE's. They don't work on a trackbar at that kind of lift.

Seriously, spend the money for a real trackbar. We aren't trying to spend your money for you, we're trying to stop you from wasting it and hurting yourself and or others. You probably aren't going to build it much cheaper than it costs retail. Pick a Naxja sponsor, call them up, and ask them what it would cost for an RE HD trackbar part RE1660 and the bracket RE 1665.

Here, I'll pick one for you. Tell them Cal sent you.
