ok, so I'm getting my storage unit cleared out to move into our new farm soon. I got a built in dishwasher unit I got from my dad some years back that we decided not to use in the kitchen. I was gonna just sell it for 25 bucks, but that got me to thinkin. do I mess around trying to find someone who wants a non-white/black dishwasher and get it transferred to them, or can it/will it make a serviceable parts washer out in the pole barn?

put an instant appliance water heater on the water line feeding it for hot water and I already have a water/drain system installed in the pole barn to supply it. just not gonna be able to use solvent or diesel fuel for a cleaner in it. have to use some sort of strong detergent instead.

waddya think? doable or just way to hillbillyish?

If it's not a big thing for you to do, hey knock your self out, see what happens. I don't think it will work real good, but hey, what do I know? I base my opinion on my own experience cleaning my utensils used when I smoke/BBQ pork or brisket. It doesn't clean the smoke film well, even on sanitize option. On second thought, I could just have a shitty dishwasher!? Just my .02

actually i've heard that dishwashers make for very nice parts washers. and x2 on kitchen sinks don't make good parts washers. so i started using the bathtub, and now my wife is trying to figure out where all the scratches are from............i really need to get me a dishwasher. lol

O sure, first you start making parts washers out of dishwashers, then whats next?? I suppose next you will tell us that you will not be keeping a transmission in the bathtub anymore :twak: or that ductape isnt a good fix for broken control arms mounts. All sounds crazy to me, do what the rest of in Illinois do ie.., borrow a pickup and throw your parts in the back, then head over to the car wash. Done! Clean as whistle. :looney:

hmmm..... I got a J20 with enough rust holes in the bed to make a suitable strainer.

actually, this is the part where I admit I've done this. sealed up all the holes in an engine block and took it to the car wash in a trailer to "power wash" it since I don't have one.

Great idea, now I wish I would have taken that old dishwasher I was offered a while back.

It works great on plastic interior dash and trim parts. Also cleans airbox parts, and small engine parts. Just remember a good dose of dawn dish soap on them scrubbed in with a stiff bristled brush, and they come pretty clean.
