HID's in my KC long range lights

Nice find! that still wouldn't help with fitting the plugs through the back of the housing, but that is an excellent solution to extending the wires. As long as it's made with quality wire that is.

Its not truly proprietary. IIRC its a projector style bulb that they use. However, he made it sound like he used some form of aftermarket hit, not LightForce's

I don't think the cost is huge. I would just buy a HID conversion kit from lightforce. Made to install in their lights.....probably wouldn't need a rivet and you know it will put the filament in the correct location (THE most important factor in any light).

We did this in a set of light force 170 lights and it worked great. Because the voltage going to the bulbs is insanely high you need special connectors so the voltage does not leak out. Get a set of connectors like the ones that were on it with the rubber isolators and crimp everything very tight. I forget the voltage but it is thousands of volts. Also note that most wire you buy is only rated to 600 volts so don't use any aftermarket between the ballast and bulbs. You can't just cut and splice. Cut the connectors off and buy another set.
although i have re-wired with standard wire and crimp connectors, and its all working fine (for now) I do have to say this was extremely usefull information when this set goes bad i will replace it with the same set and avoid cutting connections.

I was just thinking... they have to put those pins on the wires before they go into the connector, I bet there is a tool to take them out (similar to the one to take the terminals out of GM's weatherpac connectors). Next set of HIDs that I buy I'll take a look. I honestly never thought of it until just now

Do you have a link to the conversion? I have some KC long range's i would love to HID.

Thanks,
Nick
Ebay 5k HIDs $43.50 shipped to your door. KC uses H3 bulbs.. so buy a H3 HID kit.. its all plug and play.. but the wires are short between the ballasts and the bulbs (about 2ft long)

i run my ddm's all internal ballast on my lights. but im not running a hella. im running the same housing as like a pro comp 9" because they have enough room in the housing to hold everything

Agreed, Lightforce pretty much locked you up to use their conversion, using others I have heard is not the way to go, many issues getting them to work right.
