I herculinered my rock rails and rocker panels today. Put the second coat on at dusk. Didnt notice till I got in the light but I herculined most of my hands as well. Anyone have a good solvent or cleaner that will remove it?

Did you get any on your "hootus?"

I was expecting that, somehow, when I read the title - anyone else remember that?

Find out (on the back of the can) what the carrier solvent is for the stuff, and use that if you can get it. Elsewise, you're probably going to wait until it dries and see if it can peel off...

If nobody comes up with the magic solution (there probably is one). I use Lanolin (or any hand product containing it), it gets under whatever and lifts it from underneath. Lanolin works for building foam and epoxy resins, though it does require repeated applications. I've also used baby oil and synthetic motor oil, with some success. But a lanolin hand cleaner works best for me, with an abrasive hand cleaner to take off the really stubborn spots at the end.
Any solvent strong enough to desolve the Herculiner, may burn your skin.
Gloves are best, but a coating of Vasaline on your hands, keeps most adhesives, coatings or paints from sticking to your hands very much.
Using really strong solvents to clean your hands, can cause a couple of layers of skin to peal off in a week or so. It looks kind of like a disease and can really mess up your social life.

I think the hootus guy started the same way: first it was hands.... and then it was the hootus ;)
Actually I'm betting $ that's what happened here, except the Jeep guy is smarter then the Exploder guy and is not advertising the extent of his problem :D

I worked at a Chevy stealership for a while and they used some stuff called permatec for the spray in bed liner... One day the guy spraying a bed didn't notice the chemicals were not mixing right and the permatec never compleatly dried. It was tacky for a couple of weeks. So me and this guy were assigned to taking it out of the bed... We tried a couple of different solvents, even an air craft paint stripper with no success. We also called around to different dealers of the permatec to see if they had ever had a similar problem and they all laughed at us and told us it would be better to put a new bed on the truck. Finally called the company and they pretty much told us if it will not peal out, which it shouldn't if you prep the bed correctly, you would be screwed and maybe a sand blaster would do the job. We spent 4 days in the bed of the truck with sanders and 16 grit paper that we would change every 20 minutes, before we finally got to the point we could re-spray the bed.

I don't know if the Hurculiner is similar to the permatec but I wouldn't want it on my skin... Good luck.

I Herculined my interior. The carrier solvent I think they used is xylene. But, once the stuff starts to set up and dry nothing dissolves it. Xylene and nail polish remover seem to take a little bit off if you get it on your skin. I managed to only get a little on my elbow. That stuff is really tough but it wears off quickly.

I got it on my arms when I did the inside of my XJ. All I did was take a hot shower and then get a very stiff brush and go to town. Came right off. No need for chemicals or anything.

man xylene and herculiner are pretty toxic substances... wear some chem proof gloves! i dont know about you but when herculiner or xylene came in contact with my skin it burned a little... maybe from huffing the fumes and absorbing the xylene through my pores ill have a hand growing out of my head or some deformity... as for slovents time...the herc came off in a few days...not much else you can do...try the citrus degreaser handwash with the pumice in it...thasts the best for cutting most everything
