I just had the same problem this week, again. 3 shock changes in the life of my jeep and I broke all 4 the first time (drilled out and tapped), 3 the second time (drilled out 2, knocked out one and welded a nut back into place to use) and all four this last time. I used an air hammer to "pop" the nuts out fo the body leaving some 1/2" holes. I plan to run a Grade 8 bolt with a fender washer from the back, then another fender washer and nut, then my shock, then another nut. Hopefully this combo with some anti-sieze will do the trick so I dont break all 4 of them in another 2 years...
