Yeah, the factory light switches are garbage. The power is ran through the switch itself, instead of external relays. I would suggest changing out the whole harness.

i put a universal one on it for now. one that just connects to the wires in the tail lights. going to figure up a wiring diagram for a relayed taillight harness.
