this engine has been over heated, ran low on oil, had low oil pressure for a few days due to a plugged oil filter, ran low on water so it has be torchered. and frankly any less of an engine would have blown.
you got to remember there are a few thing wrong and at some point ether i will need to rebuild or replace. yes this is fixable. and yes the rear main is to.. but at what point do I stop keeping this old engine alive and rebuild it? its a cost thing...
if i spend 8 hrs to fix just this head leak, then its 4 hrs to the rear main, then 2 hr finding rest of the vacuum leaks. So there is 14 hrs of work to be don to it now... 14 hr i don't have. shot i barley have 4 on any one day. and that is just to keep it running for what 50-100k more if i am lucky. when she will run with out doing anything from about that before I have to change it out. that just seams to be a wast of my money and time.
with that said here is a way that i could maybe deal with the cost.
Dose anyone have experiences doing a new rings and bearings in the jeep motor why it is in the cherokee. If i have to tear down the top to do the built and the bottom to do the oil seal. how hard would it be to pull the pistons and hone the sleeve installing new rings and push rod bearings and crank bearings. this will help the engine last longer and make it last 100k more.
ya ya i know you don't want to rebuild a engine in the car but well if it can be refreshed. seance i would have it almost completely apart.
All this just over changing a header bolt and a gasket! geeze lol.
