wow, thread hi-jack!
1.25" DOM gives you a bit more clearance in the steering than the 1.50". I gotta thing that matt's solid chr-mo is the way to go, but you have to be able to drill/mill the end of it and this tough to do. I just built another steering useing the 1 ton TRE's, .250 wall DOM and the weld-in inserts.

My Rusty's steering failed catostrophically for me last year. If was on the highway when the crappy welds failed, my wife and I might have been killed. That's all i have to say about that topic. I trust what I can build more than just about anything else.
