Actually, you have it backwards. A LLC is extremely easy to set-up when comparing to non profit. To obtain legal, not for profit status, requires mountains of paperwork. There are plenty of shady company's that claim non profit, but have never actually registered and been licensed as that. Some have every intention of becoming so, but the amount of red tape is prohibitive.
I have set-up both a non profit organization, as well as several LLC's.
If everyone would read all of Jeff's post's, and the response from the Ford rep, this thread would have been over a few pages.
Ford HAS to do what it has done. Its the way our system is set-up. I have also had to pursue damages caused by other people using a trademark I have registered. It wasnt for malicious reasons, but simply to protect my intelectual property.
